Thinking of You with Stampin’ Up!’s Happy Scenes

I try to keep an upbeat and positive charm about my blog – and I think I succeed about 99% of the time.  Who wants to hear me go on and on about stuff that’s un-wonderful?  Recently, there have been lots of items making their way to Stampin’ Up!’s “backorder” list.  Somewhere along the say, someone miscalculated how overwhelmingly popular some items would be.  Take the Hearth & Home Thinlits, for example.  We all knew these Thinlits Dies would be popular, but maybe we didn’t know just HOW popular they’d be.

Anyway, the Hearth & Home Thinlits are still orderable – but if you order them today, you won’t receive them until December.  I still want you to order them (because you will love them – and it’s bundled with an amazing stamp set, Happy Scenes), but I wanted to show you how you can still use the stamp set until you receive the backordered Thinlits.  See – that’s upbeat and positive, right?

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Without Thinlits.  If you order this bundle today, you can work your way around the delay in receiving the Thinlits by using circles and squares and other shapes to capture these gorgeous scenes – who says you have to see them through a window?  For this focal point, I used Circles Collection Framelits to crop out the scene and the Pear Pizzazz frame.  The Pumpkin Pie frame was cropped with a 2-1/2″ Circle punch.  Before I could order the Hearth & Home Thinlits, I created a spooky window with a 1″ Square punch – it’s more work than the Thinlits, but I’m sure you can get by until your Thinlits arrive.  You can see my video here.
• Easy Painting.  This Autumn scene is quite adorable – who doesn’t love the crispness of the air when leaves are falling, that time between too hot and too cold?  I stamped the image with Archival Basic Gray ink and then colored the images lightly with a Blender Pen and Classic Inks – I used Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz and Crushed Curry.  That’s one color from all four color families – SCORE!  I only outlined the green grass and didn’t feel pressured to color it all in.  I think it gives a nice, clean effect.
• Unexpected Color Combination.  As I mentioned in my last bullet point, I pulled one color from each of Stampin’ Up!’s color families for this card.  The principal colors, though, are orange, green and gray.  I love Pear Pizzazz with Basic Gray – the Pumpkin Pie pairs nicely in moderation.  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:
