A World of Thanks for CYCI#93 and PP269

With today’s project, I’m playing along with two Fall-themed challenges: a Fall-Themed Designer’s Choice challenge at Can You Case It? and a Fall Thank You Cards challenge at The Paper Players.  Now that I’ve got you on the edge of your seat, waiting for the most leaf-caressed and twig-distressed project, I must confess that my card doesn’t showcase any Fall-themed products.  Instead the colors I used, along with the rustic sentiment, make this card feel very Fall-appropriate.  I hope you agree.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• A World of Thanks.  Do you recognize this sentiment?  If the title of this post or the title of this section didn’t already tip you off, you’ll be happy to know I isolated one of the many “thank you” sentiments in the background stamp A World of Thanks to arrive at this gorgeous sentiment.  I taped off the area surrounding the words, inked the stamp with Early Espresso, removed the tape and stamped the image down on Very Vanilla.  It gave me exactly what I was looking for – and I lined up my Very Vanilla Thick Bakers Twine to perfectly accent the “thank you.”  If you missed my video about isolating images on a stamp set, you can check it out here.  Look how many distinct “thank you” sentiments you could get with this stamp (which looks gorgeous in the background, by the way):

• Leaf vs. Star.  My original idea for this card included a small leaf from the Square Pillow Box Thinlits Dies.  It looked great!  As usual, though, I let my project sit there for a bit before switching gears.  I was cleaning up my Something to Say stamp set (I used it for a project I’ll be sharing later this week), when I saw this star.  Because it has the same sketched feel as the sentiment, I thought it would be a perfect accent for this sentiment.  I think it filled the space above the sentiment perfectly.
• Fall Color Combination.  As I mentioned earlier, this color combination really informs the Fall feel of this card.  I used browns and yellow to create a masculine feel that’s certainly appropriate for this wonderful time of year.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:
