Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? Not in my book! I adore the Snow Place stamp set with its adorable snowmen and penguins (dress-up has never been so fun), and I LOVE the combination of aqua blues with reds. For today’s card, I brought all of those together with a peekaboo snowman and a mashup of Lost Lagoon and Real Red. Here’s my card:
Because there are two great challenges this week with Christmas Themes, I’m sharing my card there:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Just Popping In. While the panel of Lost Lagoon is the front panel of this card, but the most interesting aspects of this card are happening below the panel – or popping in from below. I cropped a 2-1/2″ Circle from this panel of Lost Lagoon and let Mr. Snowman pop out from behind. In other popping news – since the panel of Lost Lagoon is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I added a couple to the snowman to pop him up with the rest of the card. He’s glued underneath the circle at the bottom and above the circle at the top but fully supported by Stampin’ Dimensionals all over. Yay!
- Sweat Heart. Once the sentiment (also from Snow Place) was stamped down to the front of the card, I needed that all-elusive “something else” to make the front of this card complete. The heart from Something to Say is a go-to for me – the sketchy design is perfect for almost all styles and works well with the “action” of the card (described more below). I snipped a Dimensional in half to pop-up this heart. Love is in the [frosty] air! If you don’t already have this stamp set, you should really reconsider. 🙂
- Creating Action. There’s nothing really “happening” on this card – the snowman is just looking adorable and enjoying the lagoon. To add a little interest I used the striped 2014-2016 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack. Not only does the color tie perfectly with the front panel of the card, but the bold stripes create action in the background. As a rule (and this might be a stupid rule), I always point my diagonal stripes up and to the right. Just feels more positive to me.

Hi Brian! The snowman is so cute popping out of his little snowhouse! 🙂
Have a great weekend, snow showers are forecast here in Maine for Sunday morning! 🙂
It’s snow cute!
Aww!! so, so adorable, love this little snowman peeking through the window all decked up and cozy.
Super sweet card and I love the colors.
TOOOO CUTE!!!
Love the color combination. And the snow man popping out is just too cute. Another outstanding (in the snow) job!
Brian this is adorable! I love how your snowman is peeking out of the circle, and the repeated stripe element. Always a pleasure to see one of your cards in the gallery at The Paper Players!
He is so cute popping out of that window! Well done, BK!
What a fab card with the adorable snowman, Brian!
Just precious! Like the way he is popping. A great smile for the day!
That’s awesome!! Love your little snowman peeking out the window. Perfectly dressed for a winter day. 🙂 Great colors and design! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players, hope to see you again soon!
Oh Brian, this is THE coolest card (yes, pun intended)! LOL What a fabulous way to bring “action” to a card. He certainly look like he is attempting to escape the cold from the stormy weather created by the striped background. I just love it!
This card puts a smile on my face. Using the diagonal DSP ties right in with the striped scarf. By the way, I agree with your stupid rule.
I love this set, too, Brian, as does my DGD…she loves to mix and match the pieces! Adorable card, love the striped background and how you have the snowman popping out of the circle! The little heart is a nice touch, too! Thanks for sharing this with is at the Paper Players this week!
Brian, it is definitely not bad to have too much of a good thing…especially when it is one of your amazing stamped creations. Hugs!
One of the cutest cards I’ve seen with this set. How fun.
Adorable just like you xx
