Friendly Wishes for FabFri70

Today’s card includes three brilliantly paired colors for this week’s FabFriday Color Challenge (Pool Party, Mossy Meadow and Real Red) and three stamp sets that I used to make one focal image.  Here’s my card:Friendly Wishes, Cottage Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri79

And here’s the banner for the Fab Friday color challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Fun Collection of Stamp Sets.  All three of the stamp sets I used on today’s card are from the Annual Catalog.  While I’ve used these set sparingly, I think they came together seamlessly here.  Sentiments, images and a background stamp – what could be more perfect?  Here are the three sets I used to create this fun panel for my card:

  • Banner Balancing.  With the sketched sentiment in the bottom, right corner of my card, the top, left corner of the notebook paper felt a little naked.  I added two banners by punching strips of cardstock with my Washi Label punch and adding banner tips with the edge of the Hexagon punch.  The weight of the Mossy Meadow banner is lightened a bit by the pale Pool Party banner.  To add the third color into the banners, I cropped a heart from the Owl Builder punch.  Sweet and balanced.
  • Perfect Spacing.  When adding three pearls or three candy dots, I always suggest securing the two ends before placing the center embellishment – it’s much easier to find the “middle ground” between two ends than it is to add an end that leaves all three embellishments perfectly spaced out.  When adding the flowers to the LOVE sentiment above, though, I took a different approach.  I visualized where the flowers should rest on top of the word and then stamped the large flower, followed by the one on the left (both are centered on the top of the “V”.  Before I started stamping the flowers, I wasn’t 100% sure where the right flower needed to be on the “E”, so I stamped that one last.

Stamp Sets:  Friendly Wishes, Cottage Greetings, Writing Notes  Papers:  Pool Party, Mossy Meadow, Real Red, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack (Pool Party), Whisper White  Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Stampin’ Write Markers (Real Red, Mossy Meadow), Uniball Signo Gel Pen  Accessories:  Washi Label punch, Owl Builder punch, Hexagon punch (for banner tips), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Fab Friday site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.  After this challenge, Fab Friday challenges will be on hiatus until February – so play along now if you want to play along.

Thanks for stopping by today!
