Better Together for PPA306 & PP300

I’ve been using a lot of blues lately, so I’m taking a short breather from blue to focus on orange – I’m sure I’ll be back to blues soon…errr…tomorrow…yup, tomorrow’s card is blue.  Anyway…today’s clean-and-simple card was created for Mary Fish’s sketch at the Pals Paper Arts (PPA306) and Jaydee’s special 300th challenge celebration at The Paper Players (PP300).  What a fun combination!  Here’s my card:

Better Together, Party with Cake, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Does it get any cleaner and simpler than that?!  Here are the banners for the challenges that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Pairing Stamps.  When pulling an image from one stamp set and a sentiment from another, it’s important to consider whether the styles of the two will work together.  A finely sketched image might not pair with a loopy, flowery sentiment, and a silly image won’t look good with a scripted font.  No matter how much you want the words and image together, the words have to match the style of the image.  The thick typewriter font from Party with Cake pairs perfectly with these fun hats from Better Together.  How could I not use them together in a card?

  • Nope!  That Didn’t Work.  My original plan was for my front panel to be Pumpkin Pie.  I stamped three little hats on Peekaboo Peach and colored the little dots with my Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker.  A couple of quick snips, and I was ready to adhere the tiny hats.  Nope!  It didn’t take me long after snipping them out to realize that my finished hats looked more like slices of pizza.  I’ll store that tidbit away for a pizza-themed card in the future, but it wasn’t what I had in mind for this one.Better Together, Party with Cake, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Sweet Orange Combination.  I called it orange, but technically this card combines pumpkin with peach.  Pumpkin Pie and Peekaboo Peach pair perfectly to create a sweet color scheme – don’t you think?  It feels like a Dreamsicle.  How yummy is that?  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
