Maggie Mata is the Featured Designer for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. What a fun sketch she’s created! There are so many options for this simple design. Maggie’s sketch includes three circles (can really be any shape you want) on a card front. I chose to stick with the quick-and-easy circles and paired them with sentiments the Perfectly Wrapped stamp set. Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:
And here’s the banner for Maggie’s sketch that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Circles, Circles, Circles. I adore the Layering Circle Framelits Dies. What a great collection of circles and scalloped circles that perfectly layer together! Both of the circles in this card are bordered by a scalloped circle that gives a little peak of the Tempting Turquoise below. The new Layering Framelits come in circles, squares, ovals and hearts. For measurements of the many shapes in these Framelits packs, click on the picture below:
- A Quick Flower Accent. My third “circle” is a flower. Why? I tried to create three circles (“a big” on one, “hooray” on one and “for you” on another), but it was eye-exhausting to travel to three circles. I combined two of the sentiments on the largest circle and the created an accent for the third shape. I simply punched a Melon Mambo flower from the Blossom Bunch Punch and added a Crushed Curry Enamel Dot. The additional pop of pink also added a little balance to the structure of circles on this card.
- Cheerful Color Combination. These colors – Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise were pulled directly from the subtle patterns on the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper base. The colors ALMOST don’t work together – Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo are almost so opposed to each other that they work. I love the balance of color on this card. If you like these colors, too, save this for future reference:

Smart card, Brian! Love the little flower to finish off the sketch. You so clevah, LOL!
Beautiful and fun.
I think I need the layering circles, I love that scalloped edge on the circle. I like the flower instead of the last circle too. Great thinkin’!
A “big hooray” for such a sweet and simple card. Love the pop of the flower!
So cute and cheery!! Love it!
Such a bright & cheery card! Love the colors….very fresh and summery. Nice interpretation of the sketch.
Love the bright colors you’ve used today, Brian! This card is sure to bring a smile to whoever receives it. Love how you used two circles to hold the sentiment. Thanks for playing along this week.
The coordination of colors works very well among the circles, borders, and dotted areas. The division the greeting into the two circles and the coordinating colors of the flower (with the circles) make the three objects really pop!
Love what you did with this weeks sketch. The colors are bright and cheery. Very nice!
I’m your secret #1 fan Brian. But I won’t tell anyone. Love your design.
