Three Things I Like: Paulette Birkbigler

2016 Holiday One-for-One Swaps, Stampin' Up!I’ve had so much fun sharing the cards I received for my Holiday One-for-One Swap.  What a gorgeous collection of festive and fun cards!  I loved opening each one, and I am glad I get to share them with you.

If you missed the first two days of the swaps, you can see them here:

While I shared parades of cards of the past two days, today I’m featuring a card that deserves to be called out as special.  I’m happy to share Paulette Birkbligler’s special card with you today, and I’ll offer three things I really like about her project – it can be difficult to limit myself when there are so many great things to love.  Here’s Paulette’s beautiful card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

    • Double Gate Fold.  I don’t make a lot of cards with fancy folds, and I don’t make a lot of 3-D projects.  I know you love them, but they are difficult to photograph, and I’m not an inventor – I think of myself as a designer. Anyhoo – I love this card.  What’s best – it fits in a standard, medium envelope – WOO HOO!  My dear friend, Dawn Olchefske, created a great tutorial for making this fancy fold project – if you want to give this style of card a try, you can see that written tutorial here or the video here:

  • Presents & Pinecones.  Paulette’s pretty project perfectly promotes the Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper.  *Say that five times fast*  While the page with pinecones could easily become “too busy” and the page of Cherry Cobbler hearts could be “a bit much,” they are perfectly balanced on this card.  The pops of Emerald Envy really pull the green from the paper, and the silver embossing (and even touches of glimmer paper) add a wonderful touch.
  • Colors.  You know how much I adore great color balance with great colors.  Paulette’s card features a perfect balance of Cherry Cobbler and Emerald Envy with perfectly placed pops of silver.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Cherry Cobbler, Emerald Envy, Silver

Stamp Sets:  Wrapped in Warmth  Papers:  Presents & Pinecones, Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper  Inks:  VersaMark  Accessories:  Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Layering Circles Framelits Dies, Retired Star punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Please leave a comment below to let Paulette know how much you love her card – it’s a clean and classic beauty.  There are more Holiday One-for-One Swaps just around the corner.
