Two weeks ago, I was honored to be the Guest Designer for the challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch. What an exciting event for me. While most sketches last for just a week, this sketch will continue to stay open until January 5. Yippee! That means (1) I can still play along with the fun sketch and (2) you still have time to play along with the sketch. 🙂
I used the Nailed It! Bundle to create a fun “I’m sorry” card. If you missed the Valentine’s Day card I made with this bundle earlier this week, you can check it out here. Here’s my second card for this CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
I was quite happy with the card I made for this sketch at Guest Designer – if you missed my balloon-filled card, you can check it out here.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
Watercolor Pencils. One of the most talked about accessories from the soon-to-be-released Occasions Catalog is the brand new Watercolor Pencils. These pencils are amazing! There are 13 pencils in select Stampin’ Up! colors (Basic Black, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White) and easy to use. I simply colored in the handle of the screwdriver with the Real Red pencil and then blended the color with a Blender Pen. I used Basic Gray for the shaft of the screwdriver and the screws. Here’s a close-up of the images on my card. I added a little extra Real Red to parts of the tool handle to give it dimension. And here’s a video from Stampin’ Up! that showcases great ways to use the Watercolor Pencils:
- A Built-in Surprise. The Build It Framelits that accompany the Nailed It stamp set (and are offered with the set as a bundle) contained a big surprise for me when I was making this card. There are several Framelits that are perfectly paired with the stamped tools, and there’s a ruler Thinlit that simply impresses marks into your project. As I was cropping my sentiment with the frame, I was shocked to find that the die crops around the edge BUT ALSO adds a nice embossed edge around the sides. Check it out below – how sweet is that?
- Color Combination. I chose Real Red and Basic Gray for this card – both are available in the Watercolor Pencils. Even though I’ve used red (all of my screwdrivers have red handles), it’s still a perfectly acceptable color for a card you’d give to a man. If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Nailed It Papers: Basic Gray, Real Red, Whisper White Inks: Whisper White Craft Ink Accessories: Watercolor Pencils, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with my Guest Designer challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
