A Perfect Mix for a Fun Set of Valentine’s Day Cards

The moment Christmas ended, I started playing with my new Valentine’s Day products from the upcoming 2017 Occasions Catalog.  What fun!  There’s a super-fun baking-themed stamp set that fits the Valentine’s Day mold perfectly.  The set has a very retro feel, so I used retro colors to create a set of three Valentine’s Day cards.  Here are my cards:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Perfect Mix.  What a fun stamp set with a retro vibe!  These images and coordinating sentiments don’t even need to be dressed up – you could stamp them on a white card and be done.  A little color on the images would add some pizzazz – I kept the images plain and added the fun colors around them.  Think of how fun these would be for quick-and-simple cards or tags on February 14.  How cute is this set?

  • Layering Squares Framelits Dies.  The Layering Squares Framelits dies really helped add a great background for these images and sentiments.  I cropped the Calypso Coral base with the scalloped square and then cropped the stamped image on Whisper White with the smaller, straight-edged square.  I cropped a strip of Pool Party cardstock with the same square die and then layered it on top of the white square.  I finally added a small strip of Calypso Coral cardstock.  As we’ve already discussed, each square is designed with the blue and coral strips on different sides of the base – and the base is positioned differently on each card to coordinate with that.  What fun!

  • A Retro Color Combinations.  I adore the combination of these colors – together they are very retro and, subsequently, add to the retro vibe of the stamp set.  Each card has the same pieces and amounts of each color, but they are positioned in different ways for a bit of fun.  If you like this color combination, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
