Love You Lots for FMS273

I adore Karren Johnson’s sketch for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Before sitting down to create my project, I must have designed 15 cards with this layout – all of them were in my head.  The idea that made it to paper showcases Love You Lots, a Hostess Stamp Set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog.  Here’s my card:

  • Love You Lots.  Just in time for Valentine’s Day!  How sweet is the pairing of this elephant and mouse?  Especially in today’s political environment, can’t we all just learn to be kind to one another?  🙂  Stampin’ Up! offers a variety of price-reduced stamp sets that are available to purchase with Stampin’ Rewards which are earned for orders great than $150.  You can spend your Stampin’ Rewards on ANY product, but you get more bang for your buck with these stamp sets since they are already marked down.  Love You Lots is just one of a handful of stamp sets you can earn with your Host Rewards (for orders greater than $150).  If you want to learn more about how to earn Stampin’ Rewards, click here or email me here.

  • Your Attention, Please.  I tried to add a panel of Designer Series Paper in the background of this sweet card, but additional patterns and colors only took away from the focus of this card – the sweet animals and coordinating sentiment.  It’s the simplicity of this sketch that I love so much, so I decided to keep the elements on my card simple, too.  A simple backdrop of Sahara Sand gave me the right mix of browns and grays to showcase the pinks and stamp set the way I wanted.  Yay!Love You Lots, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS273, Valentine's Day card
  • Sweet Pinks.  Earlier this week, I shared my ideas for some great Valentine’s Day Color Combinations – if you missed that post, you can see it here.  For this card, I paired Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette to create this fun panel of pinks on which I stamped the adorable duo.  If you like this combination of sweet pinks, please save this:Stampin' Up! Hostess Stamps.  Don’t forget – you can spend your Stampin’ Rewards on whatever product you want, but these sets are set at a lower price, so you can get more bang for your buck!  Who doesn’t love a savings?!  Here are the stamp sets you can buy (at already-reduced-prices) with orders greater than $150:

  1. So cute! The colors are just perfect for the sweet elephant and mouse!

  2. Warms my heart and love the blocks of pink.

  3. Your color choices are impeccable! Love the card. And Yes, we should all be able to get along!

  4. You’ve made those color blocks look seamless! Well done, you! That sketch is a classic–it could work for a million cards. And also–PREACH IT!!! I am so tired of the political hatred out there! Let’s all work together to make the best of a difficult situation–and let’s start by sending love and beauty to people with our cards!!! And while I’m on the subject…may I take a moment of your time? My sister works in hospice care and they try to collect birthday cards for their centenarians. There is a little old lady turning 104 but they only have about 50 cards so far. Got one laying around you could send? If so, (no pressure) could you send it to Miss Irene, c/o Beacon Hospice, attn. Karen Powell, 13 Branch St, Suite 100, Methuen, MA 01844. Thanks–whatever the case!

  5. Super sweet! Love that pink elephant…..and your color blocks do look seamless!

FYI ….Annie ….card is on it`s way to Miss Irene !

  9. Such a sweet card today, Brian. Love the colors and simplicity. Thanks for the inspiration. I think I might head over to FMS and give this challenge a try.

  10. Once again, simplicity with a touch of WOW! The black matt with the black ink makes your trio of sweet pinks pop! Love it! 🙂

  11. I adore this card so much!!! So fabulous

  12. Oh my! I just finished making 8 Valentine’s tags using Love You Lots! And then I see your lovely card and I had to comment. I love. I made the tags for a volunteer group here in Winnipeg that put together about 150 treat bags for kids in our inner city. I made 25 tags in total and the rest of Alanna Wharf’s Sleepless Stamper (my upline) did the same. Just had to share.

  13. Oh I love this! So clean and super cute. The colour combo you’ve used is lovely together and I agree, about the DSP – I tried too but ditched it in the end. The ombre effect is so much more striking. Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
