Ooooh-eeeee! Vaelntine’s Day is less than a week away. You’ve seen quite a flurry of love-themed cards here lately – but there are still more fun projects to share. I love love – it’s really, really great. Claire Broadwater is hosting a “Will you be my Valentine?” challenge at The Paper Players this week. Yes, Claire, I will be your Valentine. And I also made a fun card for your challenge. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Very Little Stamping. There’s not a lot of stamping on this sweet-and-simple card. The Sweet & Sassy Dies account for most of the work – and they weren’t much work at all. I used two small stamps from two Valentine-themed stamp sets to decorate/add hearts to this card. The sentiment from Bloomin’ Love was stamped on a white banner and glued to a Melon Mambo heart. I let it hang of the right side of the heart and trimmed around the edge of the heart on the left.
Along the band to the left of the hearts, I stamped a little row of tiny, tiny hearts with the Sealed with Love stamp set.
- Just Like Fallingwater. Several years ago I was fortunate to tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater home in Pennsylvania. The house is famous for its architecturally gorgeous style and its cantilevered (a structured element where only one side is attached to the support from which it protrudes) balconies – check out this amazing house here. I want to believe that my cantilevered banner is on par with the amazing designs in this famous house. It’s not a stretch at all to say my card is a comparable addition to the world of art as this multi-million dollar home. Don’t you agree?
- Pink and Red. It’s my opinion that red and pink clash with one another. Outside of Valentine’s Day, I wouldn’t think to pair the two. Perhaps the clashing sweetness of the two is what makes them work so well together? Either way, This combination of Melon Mambo and Real Red makes me happy. Absolutely gorgeous.
So sweet and I like your craftiness with the banner .
I agree that I’d never put those two colors together, except for Valentines. Your card is very crisp and makes a perfect Valentine anyone would be thrilled to receive. I love the tiny hearts and sentiment on the banner. So cool!
Such a sweet Valentine, Brian! I love the red and Melon Mambo combo and the polka dots! So happy you joined my challenge at The Paper Players this week! XX
So sweet. I {heart} this card, BK!
The row of hearts is perfect!
I visited Falling Water two years ago (amazing) – and I think Frank would approve of your cantilevered banner!! I can almost hear the running water:-). Great card – well done!!
That banner!!!…you are so crafty Brian, I like how you think outside the box.
Be still my beating heart❤❤❤❤
Your post really made me chuckle this morning! I love the banner. I haven’t seen Falling Water, but I have seen the one and only gas station designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Based on that, I think he would approve.
I love the way your banner looks as thought it is weaved from the base of the card through the hearts. I also think pink and red look fantastic together when using the right images like the heart and also a number of floral images. Your card today is just magnificent!
I love your card and am so glad that you shared the Frank Lloyd Wright site. I have seen it before, though not the inside and not in person. Thanks!
Beautiful card with a great placement on the banner! Yes, love is really great and I love this card!
Love it, and so easy to mass produce! Thanks Brian
Such a sweet and simple design but your cantilevered banner send it over the moon! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players!
Oh it’s perfect!! Love the pink and red together!! Thanks for playing along with us at The Paper Players.
