There are so many wonderfully innovative products in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog. If you haven’t yet seen it, I can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. All of my current customers are going to receive a copy in May – what fun! Today’s project, based on a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, features three new products – a new stamp set, a new set of Thinlits and a new piece of Designer Series Paper. They all work wonderfully together – and you’ll want them all. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- New Products. Other than the cardstock and circle die, everything on this card is new! While the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper is a wonderful, new product, it’s the Lovely Inside & Out stamp set and coordinating Lovely Words Thinlits Dies that are the focus of this card. Here’s a peek at the fun words and images in this new stamp set:
And here’s a look at the three words in the Thinlits Dies:
You might notice that “friend” is paired with an oval – but it’s inside a circle on my card. Here’s what I did:
- I cropped the “hugs” thinlit (which cuts into the paper but not around it).
- I cropped that with a Layering Circles Framelit to crop around the circle.
- I snipped out the word “hugs” by snipping along the edges where it connects to the circle.
- I cropped the “friend” thinlit and snipped out the word along the edges.
- I glued the thin, Calypso Coral circle to a Thick Whisper White circle cropped with the Layering Circles Framelit.
- I added the word “friend” to the circle.
- Altering the sketch a bit. It’s perfectly OK to go from “copying a sketch” to “being inspired by a sketch”. Although this wonderful sketch calls for a banner below an element, the sentiment didn’t work well to say “friend for a great” (unless I was giving the card to a caveman). 🙂 I simply moved the elements around a little bit to make it work for me – but you can still tell that the inspiration is there. Sketches are a great way to start a card – so glad for so many online challenges that help push me to start.
- Fresh Color Inspiration. The Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper is filled with beautiful colors – Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Pool Party, Tranquil Tide and Whisper White. While all of these are represented (in small ways) on the beautifully watercolored daisy design, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight really stand out. How fresh and clean are these two together?! If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Lovely Inside & Out Papers: Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Thick Whisper White Inks: Archival Basic Black Accessories: Lovely Words Thinlits Dies, Layering Circles Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Oh My gosh, Brian. I really love the clean crispness of your card. And that marbled paper is sweet! I can’t wait to get my hands on these new products. Thanks for sharing.❤
The DSP papers you have highlighted these last 2 days has really peaked my curiosity about the new catalog. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Your card is really lovely.
Wow! This card inspires happiness.
How pretty to layer the “for a great” behind the die cut. Looks amazing with the daisy DSP!
Great sketch interpretation (as usual). I’m excited about ordering these ne products! This card made me MORE excited! I’m so glad you make cards!
Wow, obviously you’re using a higher percentage of your brain than I am.
What a great idea, the way you did all the cropping! Again, love the bright colors.
Wow Brain how brilliant are you. No wonder Kylie Bertucci speaks so highly of you. Glad I now have Bloglovin working for me to get updates from some very talented Stampin’Up! Demonstrators.
Loving new catalogue.
Went to my first onstage in Sydney Australia.

What a great way to use the sketch! And I love how you’ve made this die work for a circle shape rather than the oval. Always a pleasure to see you in the FMS gallery, Brian!
You are killing me with these sneak peeks! Can’t wait to be able to order!
What a great way to showcase the new products! Fabulous card. So glad you joined us this week at FMS!
