SNEAK PEEK: Watercolor Christmas

Please raise your hand if you think I love stamp sets with sweet images and bold sentiments.  You might look a little silly to whoever is near you, wondering why you’ve just energetically thrown your hand into the air.   That’s OK because you guessed right and have officially earned all of my love a respect.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Watercolor Christmas.  If you still have your hand in the air, feel free to put it down now.  My card showcases three trees from Watercolor Wonder stamp set – a set that is great on its own but also coordinates with a great Project Kit for quick-and-easy cards.  My 9-tree design was inspired by one of the cards in the kit.  Not only do I adore the trees, but I love, love, love these sentiments.  I ran out of space to include a sentiment on this card, but you can bet I’ll be making cards will all of these sentiments this season.  🙂  Here’s a look at this super-cute set:

  • A Little Paper Piecing.  There are seven layers of paper on this card – can you see them all?  The top layer is comprised of six trees that were snipped with the Be Merry Designer Series Paper.  Yes, I could have easily colored these adorable trees with an AquaPainter or Blender Pen or Stampin’ Write Marker or Watercolor Pencil.  Instead, I stamped the trees on patterns of the Be Merry Designer Series Paper, snipped them out and added them here.  Such an easy way to add a little “wow” to the card.  Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Be Merry Designer Series Paper:Be Merry Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!
  • Christmas Colors.  Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler are a classic combination.  When I was designing this fun card, though, I made the decisions to add two thin borders of Real Red to add some brightness to the card.  What a fun, little twist.  Except that it, apparently, didn’t happen.  Out of pure habit, I created the borders with Cherry Cobbler.  It’s still a lovely idea to include a bright red with the rich green, don’t you think?  If you like this combination, please save this:Stampin' Up!
