Today’s a BIG DAY! 100 weeks ago, a handful of stampers from across the world started up a little online card challenge with just a hope that it would take off. Did it ever!? When we started the Global Design Project, none of us thought ahead to our 100th challenge. To celebrate our 100th challenge, we are kicking off a super-fun CASE The Designer Challenge – and you get to pick which designer you want to CASE. Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
We’re doing things a little different this week – each designer will pick a winner from the participants who CASEd their card. Each winner will receive the card that was created by the designer. What fun! To sweeten the pot a little more, the overall winner will receive a small bundle of Stampin’ Up! products from us. Won’t you play along this week? 🙂
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Celebration Time Bundle. I made this card with my local stamp club last week. I was excited to share this new bundle with them. Although Celebration Time was introduced in the 2017 Annual Catalog, the set gets lost a bit with all the other over-the-top sets. It’s worth another look-see, though! Here’s a closer look at this bundle:
The background is created with another sometimes-overlooked stamp set – Marbled background stamp set. How beautiful and soft is it stamped in Powder Pink of Whisper White? Here’s a look at the set:
- Build a Cake. Want a step-by-step walkthrough of how I built this cake? It’s really simple and fun – but I like to share – so here you go:
- I cropped the cake with Gold Foil and the Celebration Thinlits Dies.
- I stamped the cake with Flirty Flamingo ink on Powder Pink Paper.
- I cropped the cake with the Celebration Thinlits Dies.
- I snipped the bow and cake stand off the Powder Pink cutout.
- I carefully glued the Powder Pink cake to the gold foil cutout.
- I added a gold Metallic Enamel Shape circle to the base of the bow.
- Sweet Color Combination. I don’t use a lot of pink, but I wanted this card to be special. The soft pink and bolder pink work so well with the soft neutrals (Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand). What a gorgeous combination! If you like this mix, too, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Celebration Time, Marbled Papers: Sahara Sand, Powder Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Gold Foil, Very Vanilla Inks: Powder Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Archival Basic Black Accessories: Celebration Thinlits Dies, Metallic Enamel Shapes, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

This is a classy and beautiful card that would be perfect for so many occasions. Love the colors and swirly background especially.
Thanks so much, Jackie! I’m so glad you like it. I’d LOVE for you to play along with this week’s GDP challenge.
You know Brian, there is so much to see in this year’s catalog that it’s very easy to overlook something that should be a must have. Thank you for showcasing so many things that I have passed by even though I do spend hours with the catalog. I never even noticed this swirl stamp until I saw it on your card today and I immediately knew I loved it. So again, thanks for helping me see things I have missed. I think this card is just fabulous.
I love to showcase the “maybe passed over” items, Grace. We all knew about the Daisy bundle and Wood Crate bundle when this catalog launched. This sweet bundle and background stamp didn’t get as much of the attention they deserve. <3
Brian I love so many different aspects of this card. The Marbled background sets a beautiful foundation. The little touches of gold and bling. It all comes together to create a card that’s not only beautiful but playful.
Thanks so much, Robbye! My club members liked this card, too. I’m in love with this background – a perfect accent.
Delicious and decadent style with a gorgeous marbled background.
Thanks, Mary! I love this little cake – the colors make it yummy. I’m glad you like it.
Love your card Brian, the color combo is great. And I love the GDP challenges, hope to get back playing after summer is over.
Thanks, Dawn! I always love to see you playing along with the challenges. Summer’s not over yet, but maybe this week is a good starting point? 🙂
One of my FAVORITE stamps in the annual catalog! I love that you can make a “shaving cream” design, without the mess! Love your color combos too! Awesome card, my friend.
Thanks, Bobbie! My club members said the same thing last week – “not messy shaving cream technique!”. Ha ha! Thanks for your kind comment.
Excited to play along with the 100th GDP Challenge! I love your card! I can’t wait to create! Thanks for making such a great challenge to participate with!
Yay, Stesha! Thanks for your comments. I can’t wait to see what you make! <3
I have not seen a SU! video on this bundle. I love your card but would also love to see what more it can do! Maybe you should do one!! 😉
Thanks for the suggestion, Judy. I’ll see what I can do.
Pretty and love the colors ! This background stamp is next on the list of the new ones . It will be fun to get creative with colors !
It looks kinda like cake frosting !
Thanks, Sonny! I agree with your comment about adding different colors to the swirls in this set. I’m definitely going to give it a try! <3

Brian, this is fabulous! I have been on the fence about this BG stamp and you have convinced me. I love the softness of the colors and that cake just draws your eye.
