Musical Season for FabFri121

One of the most memorable Christmas songs of all time is “The Little Drummer Boy,” a song that tells the story of a poor, young drummer who was summoned to the Nativity with nothing to offer.  When he plays his drum, the act proves to be a perfect gift.  Who can’t pick up the song following a single string of “Pa-rum-pum-pum-pum”s?  You’re probably singing it now!  Today’s sweet and simple card features the little drummer boy and a handful of wonderful, new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Holiday Catalog.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

  • Musical Season.  The Musical Season bundle is quite a classic beauty!  The sentiments are beautiful, and the musical instruments are fun, too.  There are two bonus shapes in the coordinating dies (both are Thinlits) that aren’t represented in the stamp images but that coordinate beautifully – a French horn and a treble clef.  These images are versatile to be used throughout the year – especially if you are a “music person” or know a “music person.”  Here’s a look at this wonderful bundle:Musical Season Bundle, Stampin' Up! 146049
  • Papers.  This is the first time I’ve showcased the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper – what a gorgeous panel of Basic Black and Whisper White paper!  I love this page so much that I maximized its presentation by featuring it on the full height of the cardfront – this panel measures 4″ x 5-1/2″.  It really pops against the softness of the Pool Party base.  Here’s a look at the other pages in this all-black-and-white set of papers:

The oval is cropped with the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies from a gorgeous, Pool Party panel of Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper.  I started with an oval of cardstock but needed a little more texture.  This piece was a perfect fit.  Here’s a look at this wonderful pack of paper:Christmas Around the World, Stampin' Up!, Brian King 144629

  • Three Colors.  Who would have ever thought that Basic Black could play such an important role in the colors of Christmas?  There’s lots of black in the Designer Series Papers this year – and they are amazing.  This Pool Party pops against the black background.  If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! I love the way you come up with different color combinations and different ways of interpreting challenges etc. You just constantly amaze me. Also, congrats on your big achievement – I can’t imagine it.
