Merry Little Labels for GDP106

This week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge was so fun, I decided to make TWO cards.  If you missed my Better Than Chocolate card, you can see it here.  Today’s card embraces all the colors and patterns of Christmas for a super-fun, super-layered card.  Here’s my card:

GDPD106Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Merry Little Labels.  I’m absolutely in love with the Merry Little Labels stamp set – and the coordinating Everyday Label punch (used the punch on yesterday’s post).  While 4 of the six sentiments in this set are designed to pair with the coordinating punch, two sentiments are too big.  BUT one coordinates with the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies, and the other coordinates with the Layering Circles Framelits Dies.  Such great sentiments for Christmas and beyond.  Here’s a look at the Merry Little Labels bundle (even though I didn’t use the punch here):

  • Pop of White.  I love this panel of Cherry Cobbler with tiny, white stars from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper.  It gives this card a rich background.  While I would normally add pops of white on the thin frames on a card like this, I decided to frame the card with Crumb Cake so the big, white circle would really pop.  So different for me – and I couldn’t be happier.  Here’s a look at the Be Merry Designer Series Paper from this year’s Annual Catalog:Be Merry Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!
  • Christmas Color Combo.  You never want your Crumb Cake or Cherry Cobbler to run out during preparations for Christmas.  I paired these traditional colors with the bright-and-cheery Emerald Envy to pair with this filled-with-cheer sentiment.  If you like these colors together, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets:  Merry Little Labels, Diagonal Stripe  Papers:  Be Merry Designer Series Paper, Emerald Envy, Crumb Cake, Thick Whisper White  Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Emerald Envy  Accessories:  Layering Circles Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Why wouldn’t anyone love this card? It has so many favorites. Merry Little Labels is such a versatile set and the Be Merry Paper is the best! Nicely done!

  2. Lots of layered goodness here! I love those big sentiments!

  3. Cute card! I’m not much of a drinker (unless it’s chocolate milk) but I am most definitely an eater. And I can be quite merry, when the mood strikes. So I guess two out of three isn’t bad.

  4. The perfect little sketch for the perfect little card!

  5. The King of Layering does it again! Love this one Brian!

  6. I love this stamp set! Masking these sentiments will be fun all year.

  7. I’ve run out of adjectives for your projects. I think your approach to this challenge was right on target. Your color choices for both cards were beautiful and they worked so well together. Great job squared Brian
