Make a Statement with Floral Statements

In my design eye, simplicity always wins.  Detailed images or complex patterns can be beautifully showcased with a simple layout or a solid piece of cardstock.  Today’s card is just that – a simple card with a detailed image.  It might look hard, but it’s a simple, simple card.  Here’s my card:

  • Floral Statements & Stampin’ Blends.  Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog introduces us to Floral Statements, a beautiful stamp set that makes it so easy to create a beautiful card.  One of the floral images  is built around the word “THANKS” and another around the word “HELLO.”  Both are beautiful and begging to be colored.  Here’s a look at this wonderful set:

The flowers and leaves are SO EASY to color with Stampin’ Blends.  I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then colored the flowers with the markers in the Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack and colored the leaves with the Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Light Marker.  Here’s a closeup of the front of this card:  Floral Statements, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, thank you cardTo see all of the Stampin’ Blends options, please click here:Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  • A Vellum Layer.  After I colored this image and added it to the Pink Pirouette base, I decided it needed something more before I glued it all down.  Did I want to add a patterned paper or maybe a layer of Whisper White? I didn’t want anything to take away from the image but needed to fill a little space around the focal panel.  Oh, the challenge!  I decided to add a thin layer of Vellum Cardstock around the main panel – the perfect accent to not steal focus.  <3

  • A Sweet Color Combination.  It’s not often that I use soft pink as the dominant color on a project.  These Stampin’ Blends markers, though, made it so easy for me to focus on this soft shade.  If you like this combination of Pink Pirouette, Old Olive and Basic Black, please save this:Stampin' Up!
