DAY FIVE: 2017 Holiday One-for-One Card Swap

Holiday One-for-One Swap, Stampin' Up!After collecting a batch of beautiful Holiday One-for-One swap card over the past month, I am excited to share them with you.  This swap is filled with beautiful inspiration, and I know you’re going to love these projects.  In a series of several posts over the next two weeks, I will share these cards with everyone.

I love these swaps because they showcase beautiful projects from cardmakers at ALL SKILL LEVELS – some are brand new to the craft, and others have been creating for years.  Please look them over, admire their beauty and then let the creators know how beautiful their cards are (I already know you’ll be kind with your comments, but I am going to request it, anyway).

If you participated in the swap and don’t see the card you received here, please wait to comment about that card when it shows up on my blog – that way, the creator of that card will be sure to see your comments.

  1. Thank you Kathy Shank for my lovely card. What a great idea for any season. ?

  2. I was fortunate enough to receive Sue Ekblad’s lovely card. It is beautiful and I love it! Thank you Brian for taking the time to do this swap. I know that it’s a lot of work but we all enjoy seeing all the cards when you get them. They are all great!

  3. All of those cards are awesome! I got Morgan McBroom’s exquisitely colored fold out card and was so pleased because I have a kitty, and I love mailboxes, so it fit me to a t! You did a beautiful job Morgan, and thank you Brian for offering this fun swap!

    • Thank you for your kind words, Shirley! I received your card as well and it is stunning! I loved the mix of the music note paper and the pine cones!

      • Morgan, thank you for your kind words! I wondered who got my card! I took yours to my card class today to show it off, and they also agreed with me that your coloring was so beautifully done. Thanksgiving blessings to you and yours! And Merry Christmas!

  4. Swaps are looking great! Brian love your photos of each one!!!
    Happy Friday

  5. More magnificent art for the holidays! Thanks for sharing!

  6. I was delighted to receive Beverly’s folded and cut out card. There are many layers to it and must have taken a long time to make and I appreciate it so much. It will be displayed with my Christmas decorations because this is a keeper! Thanks Beverly

  7. Love Sue Ekblad’s card! What is that fold called? Thanks so much!

  8. Love the clever folds and designs. The Santa belt that really buckles is too cute, and the 3-D cards are a wonder. Another fantastic group of cards from talented people.

  9. Look at all the awesome techniques! Oh what fun! You captured the 3D effects well in your photos. I think I will be spending the next year CASEing elements from all your swap cards and plus there are still more to come. This was fun, a bit intense, but worthwhile to swap with others. Thanks again Brian for hosting the swap. Another parade of beauties down the runway!

  10. Awesome cards by everyone involved. Too many great details to mention. So creative. Great job everyone.

  11. 3-D fun! I received Sheryl’s shadow box card with the snowman and Rudolph — and it is absolutely darling!! I was so tickled when I opened the envelope and it sits on my kitchen counter so I can see it all the time. I will be CASEing this for sure! Such a happy card! Thanks, Sheryl! And thanks Brian for collecting, sorting, photographing, mailing, posting… I’m exhausted just thinking about all your hard work! 🙂

    • My heart is so happy to know you are enjoying the card, Barbara! It was fun to make. I received a request for measurements so will be adding a photo or two to my blog soon. Enjoy the holidays!

  12. I recd a beautiful card in swap from Martha Henry …thanks brain for doing swap…it was my 1st one and enjoyed it, know it’s a lot of work for you and so appreciate you taking time to do…paper hugs to all of the swap card makers!

  13. I was lucky enough to receive the foxy card from Natalie Lapakko!
What a great 3D card and I love the colors. Thanks Natalie for
brightening my day!! Merry Christmas to you also and happy stamping.

  14. OH MY !! How creative these card swappers are ! Just look at all the cute folds and lifts ! Chris ,that Santa buckle card is adorable !!
Lots of inspiration here today !! Thanks Brian !!

    • Thanks Sonny! It was a trial and error and was ripped up several times but I was bound to make it work. I made a birthday card for Susan using that buckle fold and she will have a tutorial on it which I am trying to write up.

  15. Wow, wow, wow! Unbelievable talent! I’m so impressed with the variety of styles and fabulous artistry and all done with paper and stamps. It is really quite amazing. I love every card I’ve seen over these past five days.

  16. It’s fancy fold day! Yay! I’m super impressed with all of the different cards today. Everyone really stepped it up to make these extra fancy cards! I love them all!

If anyone wants to try making a box card like mine, I have a tutorial for the fold over at my blog. (Click the link in my name.)

    • Thanks for the tutorial Natalie. I like how you added the little mittens! I really like the raccoon on your card on your blog too. I will look at your blog some more later – such talent!

  17. Love all the cards. Martha Henry, nice card. Great idea Brian for a swap.

  18. All of the cards in the swap have been amazing! I was lucky enough to receive the card above from Chris Robinson which is the Santa belt that unbuckles. How adorable is that!?

    • Thanks Gay Lynn. It was definitely a labor of love and I had to rip it apart several times. Since it was a day late and a dollar short getting to Brian, I bribed him with a piece of chocolate so he would put it on the blog!

  19. So many great fun folds!!! I wish you would let us know where there are tutorials for some of the folds; some are familiar but some I have never see before. I’m sure could figure them out but it would be so much easier with a tutorial!!!

    • I am in the process of making a tutorial for my Santa belt card. That was the first fun fold I learned from a demo a few years ago. I had kept the card and just had to measure and redo it a lot until I was happy with it. I had made one as a birthday card for Susan Itell with the same method and will send it to her to put on her blog as she wants to make one too. I can leave a note on Brian’s blog about it when she does. It probably is on Splitcoast but never looked and I was unsure if it is called the belt fold or what to Google it!

  20. Wow! Love all these great fold ideas. The bar just got set very high for next year……nice job to all!!

  21. Beautiful lineup today! I was the gleeful recipient of Paulette Berkbigler’s gorgeous winter scene card. We all know what a great photographer Brian is, BUT this photo does not showcase the full beauty of Paulette’s card! IT HAS FOUR LAYERS (folds)! So much detail, skill and time put into this card! Thank you so much for sharing this card Paulette! You were very kind to part with such a gorgeous work of art!

    • Thank you so much, Sandra, for your kind words! I really enjoyed experimenting with the Hometown Greetings dies; it was so much fun to create my very own Christmas village! Thanks again for your beautiful fall-themed eclipse card — I used your technique to make a Thanksgiving card for a friend & really appreciate all the time and effort you spent creating the card for the swap ? Wishing you & yours a happy Thanksgiving and a very merry Christmas!

  22. Honored to see my card among these amazing 3D and folded cards. Wow, they are so beautiful and inspiring. This was the first year I was able to participate. Thank you for the hard work putting this together, Brian!
