Color Me Happy for FMS315

Although I’m still having lots of fun with my Christmas-themed stamp sets and papers, today was a lovely day and I wanted to make a Spring-themed card. I reached for the Color Me Happy stamp set – an exclusive, while-supplies-last stamp set that was offered with the introduction of Stampin’ Blends. Here’s my sweet-and-soft Spring card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:FMS315Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Color Me Happy. I adore the Color Me Happy stamp set – a perfect collection of images and sentiments for breaking in those Stampin’ Blends markers (Stampin’ Up!’s alcohol markers that were recently released.  Here’s a look at this fun set:

I stamped this flower in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then colored it with my Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends. I added the darker shade to the middle of each flower and then blended the ink with the lighter shade, applying the ink in small circles. I then pulled away ink from the edges of the petals with my Color Lifter – that tool blends the inks a bit more and lightens the richness of the inks.

  • Sentiment Combination.  How sweet is this sentiment? The combination of this bold, graphic “CELEBRATE” with the scripted “so happy for you” makes me so happy.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to perfectly line up the two sentiments before cropping them with a Layering Ovals Framelits Die. I popped that up on a cropped oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Each of the flowers is positioned on an Old Olive punch from the Leaf Punch. • Sweet Color Combination. My card started with a base of patterned paper, but these flowers needed a soft, solid panel to shine the way they deserve to shine. This panel of Crumb Cake gave me just what I wanted. I love this combination of pink, green and this neutral base.  If you like Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Pink Pirouette together, please save this:Stampin' Up! 1. What a lovely palette and your did a fabulous job with coloring and placement of the flowers.

    • Thanks, Mary! I’m always drawn to soft, Spring colors this time of year – might be a little tired of the green-and-red combos. 🙂 This was a fun set to work with!

  2. Great soft coloring of the flowers! Sweet card!!!

  3. Brian, are you familiar with that feeling when you see something so beautiful it literally makes you catch your breath? Your card did that to me. It is quite literally breathtaking. You did a phenomenal job, bravo.

  4. What a lovely soft and beautiful color combination that I think will be perfect for Easter cards also. I love Christmas cards but it was nice to have a tiny break from them for this spring card. Absolutely gorgeous Brian.

  5. Oh, Brian. This is magnificent. I love the beautiful, soft colors. You don’t know how badly I want this stamp set and the Project Kit but can only hope there will be some left when I get my SS check mid-month. I am coming not to like the phrase “while supplies last”. There is always the secondary market, I guess, if I miss out. You did a wonderful job with this and whomever receives it should be delighted. Just lovely.

    • Thanks so much, Nancy! I really appreciate your kind feedback. Always nice to hear. I will keep my fingers crossed that these kits stay in stock until you get your order in. <3

  10. Although I’m in the fast-and-furious-christmas-card-mode it’s nice to see a break from all those Santas and festive greens and see a card with pretty flowers that call spring to mind! You’ve colored yours so beautifully! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    • Thanks, Jen! I’m so glad you like it! This card started as a way to showcase some of the Old Olive DSP for Christmas in a Spring card – but I couldn’t get it to work the way I wanted. I love the change of seasons when we can alter the color palettes a bit. <3

  11. Oh wow! These colours are just gorgeous together Brian! And those flowers are perfectly coloured and perfect for this weeks sketch. A card after my own heart! <3

  12. Congrats on being chosen Prince of Clean! Your card is a beauty. 🙂
