I might reach for the adorable Message in a Bottle stamp set more than I should – but I just love it. The images are adorable, the sentiments are fun and the set is perfect for sweet, simple Valentine’s Day cards. Today I’m sharing three 3″ x 3″ cards I created with this sweet set. Here are the cards:
Each of these little cards features one of the sweet images in the Message in a Bottle set. Each card has a Crumb Cake base and each card features one of three colors – Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo and Fresh Fig. They look great together or as individual cards. Here’s a look at each of the cards:
I framed each 2-1/2″ square of Whisper White with a panel of coordinating color and accented each card with a tiny heart in the same coordinating color. We all know that boats are blue, whales are pink and octopi are purple – so the colors work well here. The little hearts come from the Cookie Cutter Builder punch – a handy, little punch for small circles and a tiny heart. 🙂
Here’s a look at this super-fun stamp set:
And here’s a look at this versatile punch:
The three colors I showcased here are great together or by themselves. Should you feel inspired by the three colors together – Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo and Fresh Fig – then please save this for future reference:
Stamp Sets: Message in a Bottle Papers: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo, Fresh Fig Inks: Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo, Fresh Fig, Archival Basic Black Accessories: Cookie Cutter Builder punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Message in a Bottle isn’t billed as a Valentine’s Day stamp set, but I’m convinced it was designed to be one. The images are adorable, and the sentiment fit perfectly with a card about love and friendship. If you don’t have it, I want you to please stop what you are doing and order it up. I’ll be your friend forever. <3
Thanks for stopping by today!

I’m charmed by your sea creatures and love the coordinating hearts. Thanks for the reminder on finding the heart in the cookie cutter punch!
Thanks, Mary! It was a fun little trio to put together. I’m so glad you like them! That little heart is perfect! <3
Brian, these are such fun cards in great colors. This is outside the box for me, but that’s what I enjoy about your blog, all your creativity comes through. Have a great weekend.
Thanks so much, HJ! So glad you like them! They are so fun to make and so simple. That’s my kind of project. 🙂
Message in a Bottle is def. a Valentine plus set. Adorable cards, Brian.
Thanks, Dianne! I always have fun with this set. <3
Great cards Brian, and versatile. I think they could work for any age group.
I agree, Robbye! This set isn’t just a set for kids. Glad you like them.
Love, love, love them Brian. Sweet and simple and employing one of the things I say to the Hubs all the time – You Float my Boat! Those characters are charming and now I need to rethink buying this set. Thanks for so much sweetness in one blog. LOL
Thanks so much, Grace. If he says “float my boat,” then you definitely need this set. <3 I'm so glad you like these cards and am so grateful you always leave such sweet comments. Thanks!
I keep looking at that set … it’s so cute!!!
Thanks, “B”!?
That’s why I keep showing it, Suzie! I’ll keep showing it until you and Grace decide to just get it. 🙂 Thanks!
Those cards are really cute. You could put them all in a pizza box to give to someone.
The top of the box could have a “seascape” of some kind.
That’s a great idea! I planned to give them as a gift set – the pizza box would give me the perfect vessel for gift-giving. Thanks for the great idea, Kathy! <3
An adorable card set!
Thanks, Windy! Such much we can do with a fun set and simple design. <3
This little set is adorable, perfect for children’s classmates and even more adorable to surprise co-workers!
I agree, Katrina – It’s a perfect set for anyone! 🙂
What fun! I absolutely love your color combination and use of a set I had not considered other than for the mermaid. You always show such wonderful ways to use stamp sets some of us (ahem, me) may not have considered. I really need to step out of my safe (flowery/traditional/classic) box and take a chance and with your great ideas, I think I just may accomplish it. As I love square cards and easel cards, usually 5-1/2″ square, I wish SU would make the wonderful pizza boxes in a 6″ size. I keep asking so maybe they will happen someday. As always, thanks for the wonderful inspiration! Re the other set we discussed, just maybe I will have the nerve to try the pop-up part of it.
It’s a really great set, Nancy – so glad you like what I made with these fun images. It’s funny – the mermaid is the ONE image I haven’t been able to use although I know it would be super-sweet. Love your idea about a bigger pizza box. Fingers crossed!
Whale now……these are so sweet!
Punny, Linda! 🙂 Thanks!
