Ribbon of Courage for GDP137

I love a simple design with just a touch of something special. This week’s sketch for the Global Design Project gave me the honor to create something beautiful with the Ribbon of Courage Bundle and a couple of new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog. Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDPD138Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Ribbon of Courage & Rooted in Nature Bundles. The Ribbon of Courage stamp and Rooted in Nature stamp sets don’t seem like they’d be perfectly suited for each other, but there’s a connection – and it’s a strong one. First, here’s the Ribbon of Courage bundle (while the set and coordinating dies carry forward into Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog, the bundled savings of 10% off goes away on May 31): Ribbon of Courage Bundle, Stampin' Up! 145342The Rooted in Nature Bundle (available in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog) features gorgeous trees and leaves, but there are also some amazing sentiments. I pulled “BE STRONG” (a sentiment that’s always perfect with a courage ribbon) from the trio of “BE STRONG, BE HAPPY, BE YOU” sentiment. I love that trio, but I especially love it here. Go ahead – put this bundle on your wish list from the new catalog. Here’s a look at Rooted in Nature:Rooted in Nature Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 148353
  • Laser-Cut Specialty Papers. Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog introduces us to some amazing laser-cut papers that are pretty spectacular. The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper includes eight 12″x12″ sheets (4 each of two designs). Here’s a look at the designs in this pack of papers:Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Speciatly Paper, Stampin' Up!, 146907One side of the paper is Whisper White, and the other side of the paper is Very Vanilla. Yay! I used one of the tiny strips (shown at the top of the image below) to add the small, scalloped border below my focal panel. That little detail makes a big difference. Here’s a closer look:Ribbon of Courage, Rooted in Nature, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP138
  • Soft Colors. I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the flowers, hearts, leaves and flourishes inside the ribbon with a mix of Powder Pink, Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist. 1. Can’t decide which “little touch” I love the most. The white heart? The beautiful coloring? The little flowers stamped in the background? I think it’s the little scallop from the Laser Cut Paper! Perfect!

    • 🙂 Thanks, Dianne! I’m so glad you noticed all of these details. I cut the heart in three colors – Whisper White, Powder Pink and Sahara Sand. The white heart drew my eye right to it. <3 This paper is amazing!
