I’m in St. Louis this weekend for a retreat hosted by my friend Sally Nusbaum. Last night, several of us got together for dinner and a small swap with projects made with the Beautiful You stamp set. I hemmed and hawed over this card – I wanted to make something that no one else would make, so I started cutting away the pieces of my stamped butterfly until I arrived at this:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Beautiful Day. The Beautiful Day stamp set was introduced in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions Catalog. With a big, bold butterfly and a big, bold flower, the set is perfect for all occasions. I’ve used both the butterfly and the flower many times over the last several months, but I’ve never showcased them like this. Here’s a look at the Beautiful Day stamp set:
The background stamp on square panel is stamped with Lemon Lime Twist ink on Whisper White cardstock with the new-to-the-2018-Annual-Catalog stamp set, Handwritten. Here’s a look at that must-have stamp:
- Building the Flower. The flower at the center of my card was built with the bottom wings of the butterfly in this Beautiful Day stamp set. I stamped the butterfly along the edge of my cardstock so as to not waste paper and snipped a bunch these wings to build my flowers. Here’s how I did it:
- A Bright Color Combination. The combination of Melon Mambo, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight is a classic beauty. All three colors are so bright and so bold that they were PERFECT for my butterfly-turned-into-a-flower project. I paired this flower with a Crumb Cake to tone down the brightness just a bit. If you like this combination as much as I do, please save this:
Stamp Sets: Beautiful Day, Handwritten Papers: Melon Mambo, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Whisper White Inks: Melon Mambo, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight Accessories: Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you love my bright-and-cheery card!
Thanks for stopping by today!

OH BOY! Five snipped petals/wings per flower . . . and the centers! The infinity shot has a lot of cards. That is a lot of snipping. You are very creative and patient and these turned out beautiful.
Hope you had a wonderful time away.

A wonderful way to use the wings of this lovely butterfly Brian, I love it when you can use products in a totally different way than what they were intended in the first place.
Thank you for the inspiration.
XO
Maria.
