We have a fun sketch this week at the Global Design Project, and I couldn’t wait to play with it. I wanted to share a quick-and-easy birthday card (we still have to make birthday cards in the middle of all these Christmas cards, right?), so I reached for two birthday-themed stamp sets in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog. Here’s my card:

How fun is that?! This sketch really got my creative juices going (even thought I pretty much followed it exactly as it is).
Tips, Tricks and Reminders

- A Little Sparkle. There IS such a thing as too much sparkle – if it has glitter, then that’s too much. I find, though, that Wink of Stella gives me the shimmer I want without the mess. After I stamped the cake in black and stamped the icing in Coastal Cabana, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the icing to give it a grand shimmer. Here’s a closeup:
Incidentally this cake fit perfectly inside this 1-3/4″ circle I punched along the edge of this Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. - Bright Birthday Colors. I love Coastal Cabana (it’s a go-to for me), and I love how it works with so many other colors. The cool aqua tones play well with the cool warm aqua tones in Bermuda Bay. With Lovely Lipstick, they are a hot trio. If you like this combination of Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Lovely Lipstick, please save this:
