The Global Design Project is hosting a Theme Challenge that I’m certain you can play along with this week – the theme is “‘Tis the Season,” so bust out your Christmas products and a make something beautiful (like you’ve been doing for the past several months). I made a simple card that I’m so happy to share with you today. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Making Christmas Bright. The Making Christmas Bright Bundle has been a favorite of mine since Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog was first introduced. We received this bundle on Stampin’ Up!’s Alaska Cruise Incentive Trip (how fun!). Here’s the odd thing – while I’ve reached for it lots and have inked up almost every image in the set, today is the first time I’m sharing a completed project with this bundle. Do you have sets you love but that take you a while to use? Here’s a look at the Making Christmas Bright bundle:
The Christmas Bulb Builder Punch that’s a part of this bundle also coordinates with the Making Every Day Bright stamp set, another great stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog. Here’s a look at this stamp set (you might as well add it to your order when you are buying the Making Christmas Bright Bundle):
- A Grand Opening. I love the sentiment I selected for this card – “Friends make the season shine.” Perfect, right? Not only do the two pieces of this punched light bulb fit together perfectly, but the fun bulb nestle perfectly in the opening of this sentiment (makes me wonder if that’s intentional – even though none of the samples in the catalog place a bulb in that open spot). To add an additional element of fun to the card, I stamped the small string of lights all over the Real Red background panel with Real Red ink. It adds a little texture without taking away from the sweet, simple sentiment and bulb that’s the “star” of the show. Here’s a closer look:
- Christmas Colors. Real Red is a classic red for Christmas. When combined with the rich, aqua tones of Tranquil Tide and the cool gray of Gray Granite, Real Red takes on new life. I love this large panel of red on this card that makes the red bulb pop as the centerpiece of this card. If you like this combination of Gray Granite, Real Red and Tranquil Tide, please save this:
Bundles: Making Christmas Bright AgainΒ Stamp Sets: Making Christmas Bright AgainΒ Papers: Gray Granite, Tranquil Tide, Whisper White, Thick Whisper WhiteΒ Inks: Gray Granite, Real Red, Tranquil TideΒ Accessories: Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

the perfect spot for the Christmas bulb and cool sentiment. love the stamped background for subtle coordination!
Thanks so much, Mary! I added the stamped background when I realized it was, maybe, too simple. Happy with the additional texture it adds. <3
Love the mattes Brian, and such a great sentiment!
Thanks, Dawn! You know I love to layer. <3
Very clever of you to stamp the background and pick the opening in the sentiment to place the bulb. It does set the tone for sweet sentiment. Love all the layering and color combo. Enjoy your day!
Thanks so much for your sweet comments, Hilda! I had lots of fun with this and have loved this sentiment from the start. Thanks! <3
Brilliant with the bulb and sentiment pairing! Great colors, too!
Thanks so much, Windy! I’ve been itching to use this sentiment – I was happy to find how the bulb fits in that space. <3
Wow, I really love the Real Red and Tranquil Tide combination. Could work at any time of year but is especially appealing today!
Thanks, Dianne! I’ve been using both of these colors a lot lately, but I don’t think I’ve put them together like this. Glad you like it. <3
Love it ! The font on this sentiment is twirly like the strings of lights in the background and the whole layout is CUSTOM DESIGNED !!
I love Punches . I have punches that I have bought just in case I ever might need that punch for a particular project . So I have been trying to decide on this adorable bulb β¦.I think you have convinced me to get the whole set !! GIGGLE !! GREAT CARD !!
I love when I can answer your questions about how badly you need an item, Sonny! π So glad you like the card – you’ll have fun with this punch. It’s so versatile – especially with both of these stamp sets. <3

The simple cards are floating my boat for Christmas.
Thanks so much, Katrina! I had fun with this one. White space can be a beautiful thing. <3
Clean and simple card are always my favorite, and yours today is every bit of that. Love the background stamping on your base layer. Great coordination and color too! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thanks so much, Sharon! I definitely kept this one super-simple. So glad you like it. <3
HhhhhhhMmmmmm – I got on the computer late today so everyone else has said everything positive and wonderful about your card for today already. So, I guess all I can add is ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto! Love today’s card.
Awww…thanks, Grace! I had fun with it – glad you like it. <3
How fun!!! The stamped background is the (light) string that ties it all together. Love that as well as the colors and mats. You are so smart (just like a light bulb moment). Using that bulb was like it was made to fit in that spot with the sentiment. I even thought that when I saw the set in the catalog.
You always amuse me with your witty puns, my friend. <3 Thanks for the sweet compliments.
Simple but oh so sweet! Love the subtle stamping in the background!
Thanks so much, Linda! That was an afterthought – just needed another little touch. <3
I love this set as well π I really love how you made the pattern with the light string stamp, itβs just right! What a de-light-ful card!
Thanks so much, Nina! <3
