Botanical Butterfly for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Blog HopWelcome to InKing Royalty’s December Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons.” As you can guess, our Blog Hop today is filled with projects that are inspired by beautiful paper and beautiful ribbons – how clever! We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Botanical Butterfly

I don’t often use ribbon on my cards (despite the fact that I collect all of it…), but I’m all about some pretty papers so today’s project was a breeze! My card features two new Sale-a-Bration products and an Occasions Catalog stamp set sentiment. What fun! Both catalogs are live January 3, 2019. Here’s my card:

  • Three New Products. My six-layer card features a stamp from the Forever Lovely Bundle (new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog). Here’s the cool thing about “you are loved” – it can be used for a Valentine’s Day card, a sympathy card, a Mother’s Day card or a card that just surprises someone you love. You don’t even have to love the person (“you are loved” is far more passive than “I love you” – it kinda’ puts it off on someone else). Here’s a look at the Forever Lovely Bundle:Forever Lovely Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 150580The sentiment is wonderful, but the layers of Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (available with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration) really define this card. I love how one side of the papers is black-and-white and the other side incorporates beautiful color. So many gorgeous pages in this pack – I pared the bold black-and-white stripes with the intricate designs on the second piece. I tried my best to randomly wrap the ribbon, but you know I’m not very good at randomness. I get points for trying, right? • You are Loved. I knew that “You are loved” would be a perfect sentiment to coordinate with this sweet paper. I played with several different ways to crop it – ovals, circles, the Everyday Label punch. I love, though, how the sentiments rests inside the Pretty Label – it seems a little unbalanced in the shape, but the round curves play well with the styling of the sentiment. • Color Combination. Black makes All colors look great with Basic Black, but I particularly like when soft shades are combined with it. There are so many soft, sweet colors in the top panel of Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, but I pulled the Highland Heather with the card layers and the Grapefruit Grove with the ribbon. 8. Love this card and you are spot on with the sentiment. There just aren’t many people that “I Love You” works for in my life but “You Are Loved” is a sweet step back way to convey that you care. Thanks for the inspiration. By the way I just did your frog on the unicycle card in class and it was a huge hit!

    • I love everything about your card; it is simply beautiful. I love the designer paper, coordinating colors used , the layering layout and especially the ribbon treatment. You hit a home run.

    • Thanks so much for your kind comments, Debbie! I couldn’t agree with you more – love this sentiment. I’ve not created anything with the frog yet, so I got credit for someone else’s work. I’m cool with that. ♥

  9. What a gorgeous color combination! You are right about the paper – a must have if ever there was one and that ribbon pack – I don’t know how anyone could NOT buy it. You made a card that everyone would appreciate receiving and it looks like it was really fun to put together. Have as beautiful a day as today’s card is Brian.
