Wonderful Romance for GDP177

I’ve seen so many gorgeous projects with the Wonderful Romance Bundle that showcase the rich, deep colors in the suite. I wondered how the leaves and flowers would look in bold, bright colors – I thought bright colors would change the entire feel of the set. This week’s Global Design Project color challenge gave me the push I needed to put that hypothesis to the test. Here’s my card for this week’s color challenge:

Wonderful Romance, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple GreenTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Wonderful Romance. I love the formal styling of the images and sentiments in the Wonderful Romance Bundle. I think, though, that these bold, bright colors and modern black-and-white stripes give the set a new feel. I don’t know what kind of flower this is (I’m an accountant and paper crafter, not a botanist), and I didn’t even Google it to see if it comes in bright colors. I just went with it – and never looked back. Here’s a look at the Wonderful Romance Bundle:Wonderful Romance Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150592The sentiment on the outside of my card is from the Beauty Abounds stamp set (what a great collection of sentiments!). The front says “A friend is someone who chooses you…” Here’s how the card resolves on this inside:Wonderful Romance, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Botanical Butterflies during Sale-a-Bration. Botanical Butterflies is one of the items you can choose with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration. Even if you aren’t keen on the butterflies (they are insects, right?), there are some really great non-butterfly designs on he the opposite pages. I LOVE the black-and-white pages – they are SO versatile. Here’s a look at this amazing pack of papers:  Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, 2019 Sale-a-Bration 149622
  • Cheater, Cheater. I’m a cheater, and I don’t play by rules. While that’s definitely not a true statement, it’s true here. Did you even notice that my card has no Melon Mambo (as prescribed by the color challenge)?Wonderful Romance, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI stamped the arrangement with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cropped it with the coordinating Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies. It was after I colored the leaves with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends that I reached for my Melon Mambo blends, finding we don’t have Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends. The Light Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blend, though, comes really close! I used that and moved on. The Memento ink doesn’t work well with water-based inks, so it’s best to not try.

Bundles: Wonderful Romance  Stamp Sets: Wonderful Romance, Beauty Abounds  Papers: Botanical Butterfly, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, Basic Black, Thick Whisper White  Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Blends (Granny Apple Green, Lovely Lipstick, Color Blender) Accessories: Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies, Pearl Basic Elements, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
