I had so much fun sharing the Painted Seasons stamp set and coordinating Four Seasons Framelits Dies with my local stamp club this past weekend. Such a sweet set with awe-inspiring results. In yesterday’s post, I shared one of the cards we made with this incredible Sale-a-Bration offering – you can see that post here. Today I’m going to share some pointers for getting the most out of these stamps and some color combinations for the succulents that I hope you like as much as I do.
Painted Seasons & Four Seasons Framelits Dies
Let’s start with the products we used. The Painted Seasons stamp set is a Distinktive stamp set with a variety of flora and fauna. I couldn’t wait to see what my club members thought when they stamped with the images in this set – and they were excited. Here’s proof:

On March 1, Stampin’ Up! released several sets of Framelits Dies for sale that coordinate with Sale-a-Bration favorites, including the Four Seasons Framelits Dies that coordinate with this Painted Seasons stamp set. Here’s a look:

Coloring the Succulents
Just an extra touch of color adds something really special to these succulents. On the projects we made at stamp club, we colored the succulents with a mix of Mint Macaron and Tranquil Tide. Here’s a look at the finished product:
And here I am, demonstrating this fun technique to my group:
I hate that you weren’t able to make it to our get together, but I’m still happy to share the steps we took to stamp these succulents:
- Ink up the stamp with Mint Macaron ink.
- Lightly stamp off once on scrap paper.
- Ink up a sponge dauber with Tranquil Tide ink.
- Lightly bounce the dauber in the center of the succulent.
- Stamp on Thick Whisper White.
- Gasp, wait and smile.
- Thoroughly clean stamp with Simply Shammy.
- Repeat steps 1 – 6.
While we used Mint Macaron and Tranquil Tide for our project, I played around with some other combinations (after a picture search of succulents on Google). I hope these inspire you to play with these images and find some color combinations you’ll be happy with, too. Here are some succulents I made with some of our other favorite colors:

Lining Up the Succulent with the Four Seasons Die
Have you ever stood in front of your Big Shot with a stamped flower, just rolling the die around and around to find the place where the petals line up? I cropped two of these succulents before deciding I needed to find an easier way.
I studied the die and stamped image and found a quick tip that will help you to quickly and easily cut out this succulent:
One of the petals on the succulent is definitely rounder than the others, and it lines up perfectly with the Sizzix inscription on the die. You might not be able to identify the roundest petal on the succulent at first look. If you have to crop a lot of these guys, you’ll get really good at finding it in the lineup.
I hope this post has given you some inspiration to try new things with the Painted Seasons stamp set. There are innumerable options, and it’s always fun to create something new.

I always thought this was a flower instead of a succulent. Goes to show what I know! Mike is the gardener at our house. I say I have a brown thumb but usually blame it on ink. There was a time I could do house plants but then who knows what happened. Anyway, love all your colors and your tips will be great if I ever get this set. I don’t think I have a favorite color combination as they are all so pretty. Darn, I do want to play with this now. Maybe I can try the dauber on another stamp for similar looks.

This was my favorite set from Sale-A-Bration. Yes, they were all beautiful but this one just jumped out at me. I so appreciate your help with the color combinations, that seems to be my weak point. Lasting Lily was my other favorite set and I’m so happy that SU came up with framelits for both sets. They are going to be such fun to play with. Great info and tutorial, Brian. Whenever I get new stamp sets and coordinating framelits dies, I determine a point of reference that will match the orientation of both the stamps and the framelits dies; then mark both of them with a Sharpie ‘dot’. Then its easy-peasy to stamp and cut all the time and don’t have to think about how to line them up.

Brian, love these accent colors on the painted seasons flower stamp– especially giving us the coordinating colors! They all look beautiful and I’m going to try it the next time I pull out that stamp set … oh wait! I just used it and now I’ll go back and add that splash of color!
