I Thought of You Today

“I thought of you today” – what a wonderful sentiment that let someone know how special they are to you. A friend doesn’t have to be hurting to appreciate this sweet acknowledgment. Paired with flowers and leaves from Painted Seasons, this sentiment from Climbing Roses really shines. Here’s my notecard-sized card:

And here’s the banner for Donna Mikasa’s sketch challenge that inspired my card:

  • Two Great Bundles. My simple card features stamp sets from two great bundles – one that’s can be selected with a $100 order during Sale-a-Bration, and one from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. The flowers are leaves are stamped with the Distinktive images in the Painted Seasons Bundle (stamp set and Designer Series Paper). Such a brilliant, beautiful images! Here’s a closer look at this bundle that can be earned during Sale-a-Bration:Painted Seasons Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150349On March 1, Stampin’ Up! released a collection of Sale-a-Bration Coordination products (you can see all of them here) – and one of those is the Four Seasons Framelits Dies that coordinate with the Painted Seasons stamp set. The sentiment on my card is from the Climbing Roses stamp set – part of the Climbing Roses Bundle:Climbing Roses Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150603
  • Create a Template. I made this notecard-sized card with my local stamp club over the weekend. It was exciting to watch each person stamp with these flowers and gasp at how beautiful they are on paper. When arranging stamped images on a card front, it can be difficult to find the right placement of elements – how to find the right balance of elements on the card. I played around with several configurations before finding the balance that worked with the size of card and punched sentiment:Painted Seasons, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThis is how the stamped panel looks without the sentiment. I passed this around at club to share an example of how these flowers can balance on the card. If I were going to make multiples of this card, I’d use this template as a reference point.
  • Story Label. The Climbing Roses sentiment (have I already told you how much I love it?) is stamped with Mossy Meadow ink on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Story Label punch. Here’s a closer look:Painted Seasons, Climbing Roses, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThe Story Label Punch was released on March 1 with the other Sale-a-Bration Coordination items that can be purchased (and add to your sales totals so you can earn more Sale-a-Bration products). If you love punches (and why wouldn’t you), this is a great one to add to your collection:Story Label Punch, Stampin' Up! 150076

  11. Brian, Brian, Brian… can I do a mind meld with you? It’s amazing what you produce from a sketch. my interpretation… I get a very desert feel from this card which exudes “warmth”. you nailed this!

    • Thanks so much, Dara! I love sketches and love that I don’t have to 100% follow them. They are there for inspiration. If you squint on my card, though, and focus in on the centers of the flowers, you’ll see the sketch there. ♥ ***mind meld complete

  12. This Painted Seasons set has become one of my favorite “go to” sets. It honestly works no matter what type card one is making. I’m inspired to use it mostly by the plants I have in my home. Succulents are very intricate and amazing and inspire intricate and amazing cards. Today’s card is so perfectly balanced I just love it. I do need to get that punch though. Thanks once again for sharing Brian.

    • I’m more than happy to share, Grace! Thanks for your comments – I’m happy you love this set as much as I do. It’s quite wonderful! ♥ You’ll love the punch if/when you decide to get it.

  13. Well I did think of you today ?. Fun sketch and I love how you stamped the flowers as a background!

  14. Note Cards are my love language. Everything is more cute when smaller but I can’t mail a 3×3 as adorably as I can a Note Card. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous card and easy instructions (fellow lover of PUNCHES).
