You are My Sunshine

I know it’s not Spring in all parts of the world, but it’s definitely Spring here in Atlanta – and I can’t help but to celebrate. If it’s not Spring where you are, I hope this card is a touch of inspiration that sunshine-y days are on their way. Here’s my card:

Here Comes the Sun, Sunshine WIshes Thinlits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for the Fusion Card Challenge that inspired my card:FusionFor Fusion challenges, participants can use the sketch for inspiration OR use the image OR combine them. Although I set out to just be inspired by the sketch, the bright colors I pulled in seem to be inspired (unknowingly) by the jars of colorful eggs. Such fun!

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Here Comes the Sun. The focal circle on my card is from the Here Comes the Sun Host Set, a stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog that can be purchased with Stampin’ Rewards. With purchases greater than $150, customers earn Stampin’ Rewards that can be used to purchase ANY current items in the current catalogs. One of the perks of earning Stampin’ Rewards is that you can choose to use them to purchase specially-priced Host Sets. Here’s a look at the Here Comes the Sun Host Set:  Here Comes the Sun Host Set, Stampin' Up! 148793While the stamp set clearly has a “sunshine” stamp included, I reached for my Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies to “fill in the blank” in the center of the circle. • Fun Layout. I love the sketch for this Fusion Challenge – a band with a circle (or image). Such a simple layout for a variety of projects! It had me pulling out my 2018-2020 In Colors 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (I used Pineapple Punch). After I cut the base panel of polka dots for this card, I used the leftover piece to layer a striped panel on the right side. I added a Pool Party strip, too, to pull my focal sentiment over a bit so that it would all fit on the card. Patterns with Pineapple Punch, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingWith “sunshine” cropped with Calypso Coral, I added a thin border of Calypso Coral around the focal panel to pull that color in a bit. Playing with paper. It’s one of my favorite things.
  • Sunshine-y Color Combination. All of the colors I used on this card celebrate the sun. With a card themed around sunshine, Pineapple Punch was an easy choice. Has there ever been a brighter, bolder yellow? The touch of Calypso Coral is a firey color that also pays homage to the sun, and the panels of Pool Party represent…you guessed it…the sky.
