Humming Along for Mother’s Day

As Spring really sets in, I’ve been reaching for vibrant colors and flowers. This week’s Freshly Made Sketches gave me a simple layout for a card with the hibiscus flower from the Humming Along Bundle. Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

Humming Along, Just Because, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Mother's Day card

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

FMS382I love the simplicity of this sketch by Jen Timko – I moved the sentiment banner to the left side of my panel so as to not block the flower. The inspiration is still there.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Humming Along Bundle. I love the large hibiscus in the Humming Along Bundle from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. When I first got my hands on this set during Stampin’ Up!’s last OnStage event, I immediately made a card with it. I wanted the flower to be soft and elegant, so I added no color (click on the image below to read more about this project):Humming Along, Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, get well cardFunny enough, the only other time I’ve showcased this flower was without color, too (click on the image below to read more about this project):Humming Along Bundle, Butterfly Gala, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI don’t think anyone could argue that I really added bright color to the third showcase of this beautiful flower, right? • Just Because.  The Just Because Host Set includes three plant images and five great sentiments. While the “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment is paired with the tall pot of flowers, I isolated the sentiment on this card. Here’s a look at the Just Because Host stamp set:Just Because Host Set, Stampin' Up! 148786Over the years, Stampin’ Up! has changed the terminology associated with the benefits from large purchases and in-home workshops. Here are the terms we currently use:
    • Stampin’ Rewards. With purchases greater than $150, customers earn Stampin’ Rewards that can be used to purchase ANY current items in the current catalogs. For example, a $150 order earns a customer $15 of free merchandise (10%) and a $300 order earns a customer $36 of free merchandise (12%). This reward used to be called Host Rewards, but since the rewards are available for single purchasers (you don’t have to host a party to earn the rewards), the name was changed. YIPPEE!
    • Exclusive Host Sets. One of the perks of earning Stampin’ Rewards is that you can use them to purchase specially-priced Host Sets. These sets are available to anyone who gathers orders that combine to $150 or to anyone who places an order greater than $150. If you haven’t checked out these sets, please do – they are pretty spectacular! To see all of these Host Sets from the Annual Catalog and Occasions Catalog, CLICK HERE.
    • Learn More.  If you want to learn more about Stampin’ Rewards or how to earn the Host Sets, please email me at [email protected]. I’m more than happy to help you earn free product. 🙂
  • A Spring Combination. I colored my flower with Poppy Parade and Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends – what a wonderful way to add brilliant color to an image! Even with these Spring-like images, the red-and-green combination felt a bit Christmas-y, so I added a backdrop of pale blue to offset that feeling. Here’s a closer look at this flower that I colored with Stampin’ Blends:Humming Along, Just Because, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Mother's Day cardIf you like this combination of Poppy Parade, Pool Party and Call Me Clover, please save this:Stampin' Up!
