The Perfect Place to Be for GDP211

While we are busy making holiday cards, friends and family are getting engaged, celebrating birthdays and welcoming babies. I’m going out on a limb here, but I don’t think any of them want to honor their celebrations with images of Santa Claus or pumpkins. We have so many other products we can be reaching for this time of year, too. 🙂 Here’s my card for this week’s Global Design Project “Happily Ever After” theme challenge:

Silhouette Scenes, Birch, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, engagement card

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card: GDP211Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Silhouette Scenes. Since it was first introduced earlier this year, I’ve admired the silhouette of a mad and woman under an umbrella – such a romantic look (even though I know they are probably sweaty and wet from escaping the rain). I’ve not been sure how I would incorporate the image into a card until I began scouring the catalog for a good set to make a wedding or engagement card. Here’s a look at the Silhouette Scenes Bundle:Silhouette Scenes Bundle, Stampin' Up! 151058I didn’t use the dies from this set, although “forever” would have been a lovely addition. I just love the “Together is a perfect place to be” sentiment – such a beautiful sentiment!
  • Stamping Off – Twice. There are two places on this card where I stamped off on scrap paper before stamping on the page. Can you find both instances? The first is the most obvious – I inked up the silhouette with Smoky Slate ink, stamped it on scrap paper and then stamped it on the panel of Whisper White that I used on the front panel of this card: Silhouette Scenes, Birch, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, engagement cardThe background of my card (and the coordinating heart on the front) features a patterned Petal Pink page from Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. Here are the colors and patterns in this gorgeous pack of papers:Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 2019 Annual Catalog, 149100I inked up my Birch background stamp with Smoky Slate, stamped it off on scrap paper once and then stamped it on the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper panel before gluing that panel to my card.
  • Color Combination. I love the mix of pink and gray – and it’s even more pronounced when paired with black. Smoky Slate looks so formal to me (it’s almost silver), so it was a perfect fit for this card. If you like this combination of Petal Pink, Smoky Slate and Basic Black as much as I do, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Petal Pink, Smoky Slate, Basic Black

Stamp Sets: Silhouette Scenes, Birch  Papers: Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Whisper White  Inks: Smoky Slate, Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Stitched Be Mine Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Love your assumptions in the beginning. Your card is very sweet and beautiful. Stamping off really gives it a delicate look. Great color combo. Enjoy your day!

  2. Delightful background and perfect silhouette. The heart is the crowning touch!

  3. I love the color combination!

  4. I really like the image so much better stamped off ! I like all of the images in this set ,but they sometimes can be too stark if done in black .
Good colors ! (I always wondered why the lady lifts her leg …I like it ,but curious ??)

  5. Clean and simple and simply stunning! When so many silhouettes are dark, you have made a game changer here with the smoky slate. Well done you!

  6. Total sweetness! Love the soft gray for the silhouette!

  7. I agree with everyone–the softer silhouette is perfect. I am not a fan of silhouettes and got this set because of the sentiments, but I am ready to rethink my erroneous predjudice and use all the images stamped-off! Always the inspiring creator, Mr. King. ( And yes, the colors in this card are rich and gloriously perfect.) Have a great holiday.

    • Thank you so much, Linda! I would have normally stamped this in black, but I really wanted to lay the sentiment over it. I was pleased with how the light image worked. ♥

  8. LOVE how you used the Birch background stamp on your DSP. Perfect touch.

  9. Absolutely love the simplicity of this card. Layer of birch and color choice – superb!

    • Thanks so much, Ann! I often feel like I should be adding “something more” – even when this simple card has enough fun stuff to talk about. 🙂 Glad you like it.

  10. The color, placement, and tilt of the heart is perfection!
