The Perfect Place to Be for GDP211

While we are busy making holiday cards, friends and family are getting engaged, celebrating birthdays and welcoming babies. I’m going out on a limb here, but I don’t think any of them want to honor their celebrations with images of Santa Claus or pumpkins. We have so many other products we can be reaching for this time of year, too. 🙂 Here’s my card for this week’s Global Design Project “Happily Ever After” theme challenge:

• Silhouette Scenes. Since it was first introduced earlier this year, I’ve admired the silhouette of a mad and woman under an umbrella – such a romantic look (even though I know they are probably sweaty and wet from escaping the rain). I’ve not been sure how I would incorporate the image into a card until I began scouring the catalog for a good set to make a wedding or engagement card. Here’s a look at the Silhouette Scenes Bundle:I didn’t use the dies from this set, although “forever” would have been a lovely addition. I just love the “Together is a perfect place to be” sentiment – such a beautiful sentiment!
• Stamping Off – Twice. There are two places on this card where I stamped off on scrap paper before stamping on the page. Can you find both instances? The first is the most obvious – I inked up the silhouette with Smoky Slate ink, stamped it on scrap paper and then stamped it on the panel of Whisper White that I used on the front panel of this card: The background of my card (and the coordinating heart on the front) features a patterned Petal Pink page from Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. Here are the colors and patterns in this gorgeous pack of papers:I inked up my Birch background stamp with Smoky Slate, stamped it off on scrap paper once and then stamped it on the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper panel before gluing that panel to my card.
• Color Combination. I love the mix of pink and gray – and it’s even more pronounced when paired with black. Smoky Slate looks so formal to me (it’s almost silver), so it was a perfect fit for this card.
