I hope your New Year is off to a great start!
CAS(E) This Sketch is kicking off 2020 with one of my sketches, and I couldn’t be happier. The simple sketch gave me the opportunity to play with some wonderful, new products that you can earn during Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-a-Bration event that starts TOMORROW. What fun! My card also features a great stamp set you won’t want to miss from the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Lots of Lily Pads. There are FOUR products in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Sale-a-Bration brochure that are brilliantly related with each other in lily pad-themed coordination. Such fun! I am excited to share three of those with you today. The Lovely Lily Pad stamp set features reversible stamps with flowers, leaves and lily pads that can be stamped and colored in using both sides of the stamp. Here’s a look at Lovely Lily Pad that can be selected as a free gift with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration:
Due to a little editing, I didn’t use the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set on my card (my project originally featured a flower and lily pad from the set that was edited off when I began pulling it together). The card does, though, feature three cutouts from the Lily Pad Dies – The detailed flower was cut twice (once with Flirty Flamingo cardstock and once with Melon Mambo cardstock), and the band of raindrops was cropped with Garden Green cardstock. Here’s a look at the Lily Pad Dies that can be selected as a free gift with a $100 purchase during Sale-a-Bration:
The beautiful background of lily pads is from the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper. The pack is filled with gorgeous, watercolored images in LOTS of beautiful colors. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors of the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper that can be selected as a free gift with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration:
- Label Me Bold and Lily Layers. The focal point of my card features some simple layering of the Lily Pad Dies with a fun sentiment. I cropped the detailed flower once with Melon Mambo cardstock. Before removing the pieces from the die, I added washi tape to the back of the images to hold the little pieces in place. I then cropped the flower with Flirty Flamingo cardstock and poked out all the pieces before carefully gluing it on top of the Melon Mambo flower. Here’s a closer look:
The sentiment is from Label Me Bold, a new stamp set from Jasmin Schulze, million dollar sales achiever. The set features simple sentiments that are easily snipped out and some fun shapes and textures. Here’s a look at Label Me Bold:
- Color Trio. The colors on my card are pulled right from the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper. I wouldn’t normally pull too many pinks and purples together, but the richness of Blackberry Bliss helps the sweet pinks to work together. A little touch of green further pulls at the sweetness of the pinks. If you like this combination of Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo and Blackberry Bliss, please save this for future reference:
Stamp Sets: Label Me Bold Papers: Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Blackberry Bliss, Garden Green Inks: Blackberry Bliss Accessories: Lily Pad Dies, Layering Ovals Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Luscious tone on tone lily. Sweet mix of color and artistry!
Thanks, Mary! I wasn’t too excited about this set until I started playing with it. 🙂 Lots of fun.
Love the pops of color and soooo much purple! Happy New Year!!!
I immediately thought of you when I saw all the purple in this paper, Windy! Thanks! So glad you like it. ♥
Great take on the sketch, Brian. I love the raindrop die. It adds a lot of texture to your card, but I think it is versatile enough to go on many card designs. Enjoy your day!
I couldn’t agree more, Hilda! It’s a fun die for lots of occasions. Thanks so much – hope your day is wonderful! ♥
I wasn’t thrilled about the Lily Impressions DSP collection……but am falling in love with the abstract designs and colors within this collection. Pretty Pretty card my friend.
Brian, thanks for the little washi tape tip, that pink lily really pops! It will be such a day brightener for the recipient of the card. Have a great day!
Great sketch …… beautiful card! Your blocks of color are perfect with the busy paper!
I love the wider boarder on the base matting, and the large oval to tame that busy DSP. I agree with Katie L: not initially attracted to this collection, but as always, you have managed to distill the primary essences and create a gorgeous card out of components that didn’t work in my mind until I saw your design. Great inspiration.
I adore this! Thank you for the inspiration. What a beautiful start to 2020.
