Music from the Heart

Today I’m sharing a quick-and-easy card I recently made with my club members. The card features a fun fold that you’re going to love and a stamp set you’ll love even more. Here’s a look at the classy card we made:

Music From My Heart, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Music from the Heart. If you have a music-lover in your family or know someone who lives for music, then there’s no way you can turn away from the Music from the Heart stamp set. The set is Dawn Olchefske’s $1 million sales stamp set, honoring her life-long love of music. There’s so much to love about this set – here’s a closer look:Music from the Heart, Stampin Up! 151374Don’t miss this! If piano isn’t your instrument of choice (but really, who doesn’t love a little piano music?), there’s also a guitar hidden in the set – see the guitar handle in the bottom, right corner of the picture above? Stamp that right on the treble clef to build an awesome electric guitar. This is showcased in the top, right corner below:  Music from the Heart catalog sample, Stampin Up!
  • Fun Fold.  This card is built from a half-sheet of cardstock. The base is 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″ and again at 2-1/8″ (folding the opposite direction of the first score). I used a bone folder to burnish the folds. I added a strip of black-and-white striped paper from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper to the panel. I love this paper, but I also thought it resembled a keyboard (although not exactly). How fun! Here’s how the card looks when it’s folded shut:  Music From My Heart, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAnd here it is a little bit opened: Music From My Heart, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAssembly Tip: The piano is stamped on Pool Party cardstock and cropped with the Layering Squares Dies, framed with Whisper White and then framed again with a scalloped square from the Layering Squares Dies. All of this is popped up from the panel with Stampin Dimensionals. I added Dimensionals behind the focal squares along the left side and then added Dimensionals to the right edge of the folded panel (to make sure none of the Dimensionals hung over edge.
  • Color Combination. I love Pool Party, and I think it looks sharp when paired with black and white.  My card features a black-and-white panel from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper.
