Back on Your Feet for FabFri187

I’ve always been fascinated with the gorgeous page of beautifully colored hexagons in the See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper, but I’ve yet to feature it on a card. Today’s the day, my friends! ♥ The hexagons remind me of a turtle’s back, so I knew it would pair perfectly with the flipped-over turtle from Back on Your Feet. What fun! Here’s my card:

FabFri187Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Back on Your Feet. We are all in quite a pickle right now – life it not normal, and we’re all feeling the drain of isolation at home. We could all use a little lift – and what better way to show encouragement than an adorable card. The struggling turtle, twisted giraffe and injured sloth in Back on Your Feet sum up how we feel these days – and the sentiments are pretty wonderful, too! Here’s a look at Back on Your Feet stamp set: Back on Your Feet, Stampin' Up! 149385And here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper – such a great mix of bright colors and bold patterns: See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 2019 Annual Catalog, 149443I cropped this page of hexagons with my Stitched Nested Labels Dies – perfect for the sketch and a perfect accent for this turtle.
  • Snip and Punch. There are not coordinating dies for the Back on Your Feet stamp set, so I pulled out my trusty Paper Snips and cropped out this little guy. I colored him with a mix of Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends and the Old Olive Combo Stampin’ Blends – super-easy and super-fun. Here’s a closer look: Back on Your Feet, See a Silhouette, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI stamped the sentiment on a 1″ strip of Old Olive cardstock and then cropped a banner tip by sliding the banner into the top of my Tailored Tag punch. It gave me the perfect banner for my sweet sentiment: Back on Your Feet, See a Silhouette, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Color Combination. Whether it represents sky or water, the Pacific Point panel on this card is vibrant and uplifting, don’t you think? I pulled the green and blue panels from the See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper and pulled the Crumb Cake frame from the turtle. The three colors complement each other so well – perhaps is the earth, grass, sky connection? 10. Oh my word, this turtle and the paper you used is so perfect! Talk about thinking outside the box, and I don’t think this is a box turtle! I thought I would come out of my shell and say how much I enjoyed the card. You brought a smile out in me. I was walking the dog and my family practitioner drove by getting lunch. When she got back to the office she called to remind me to please wear my mask when outside. Love the card. Stay safe everyone.

    • You always make me laugh, Chris! One day, I’m going to fill a post with puns, leaving no more for you to use. 🙂 Love it! Thanks! Be safe and stay healthy!

  15. Hi Brian:
So good to be home and have electricity again. The day after I got home we had a huge, wet snowstorm to the tune of 14+” and then snow on and off Friday. What I missed the most? Getting to smile at the amazing cards you make every day. I hope you realize how much joy your blog brings. Stay safe and I hope Mary is doing well also.

  16. This is so stinking cute! I love how the paper hexagons coordinates with the turtle’s shell. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten this stamp set. In 9 days, we find out if it’s carried over and it will be on the top of my list!

  18. I saw the turtle shell paper and thought you were so clever and how did you do that, only to find it it was DSP. What a DSP-appointment for me! Thought I was going to learn a new technique. VERY cute card, that paper was a great idea!
