I like to showcase products that you can buy – the moment I share a retired product or backordered product, I get five emails asking how they can be purchased. As soon as I ordered Grace’s Garden Bundle earlier this year, the bundle went on backorder (and eventually moved to an unorderable status), so I kept it on my shelf, anxious to ink it up and create with it as soon as it was back in stock.
On Thursday, Stampin’ Up! received a new shipment of Grace’s Garden Bundle, along with four other bundles that were previously moved to unorderable. As soon as I heard the news, I pulled out the set and coordinating dies and started formulating my plan to play with the bundle. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Grace’s Garden. Stampin’ Up!’s Grace’s Garden Bundle includes the Grace’s Garden stamp set and Garden Gateway Dies. With sweet flowers, great sentiments and gorgeous gates and trellises, the set is perfect for anyone with a green thumb. And don’t miss the cat and bird in this set – so sweet! Here’s a look at the Grace’s Garden Bundle:While my card uses the Garden Gateway Dies to crop the flowers and kitten, there are so many dies in the set that can be used to create all kinds of layouts. Here’s a closer look at my cutouts: And here are two cards by Stampin’ Up! designers that showcase the versatility of these dies and stamps:
- Color Combination. I colored three different sets of flowers in anticipation of building a layered design with the flowers. I wasn’t sure how I’d create the background for this sweet, simple scene when I initially colored my flowers. As soon as I settled on the Highland Heather flowers, though, I knew I wanted a soft purple backdrop for the simple scene. Enter this Purple Posy page from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:With purple flowers, a purple backdrop and a Smoky Slate kitten, I knew Smoky Slate would make a perfect backdrop. If you like this soft mix of Purple Posy, Highland Heather and Smoky Slate, please save this for future reference:
- Layers. Even with a touch of coloring and some die cutting, this is a relatively simple card with simple layers. Since it would work well for the base of any card, here are the measurements for the layers on this card (starting with the base and working my way up to the top of the card):
- Smoky Slate – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″)
- Thick Whisper White – 4″ x 5-1/4″
- Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
- Thick Whisper White – 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″
- Highland Heather – 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Thick Whisper White – Stitched Shapes Dies (square)
- Thick Whisper White – cropped with Garden Gateway Dies
- Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
