Simply Spooky Spiders

I have a sixth sense about spiders – little alarms go off inside me when I’m about to see one of our eight-legged friends. I’ve not yet fine-tuned my sixth sense enough to turn around and head the other way, but I’ll get there one day. Spiders aren’t cute or cuddly or endearing – but they do eat flying bugs that bite (and I like that). Today I’m sharing a super-simple card today that’s filled to the brim with spooky spiders. Here’s my card:

  • Hallows Night Magic. I don’t always think of Halloween as an elegant holiday, but I really love the elegant style of the Hallows Night Magic stamp set and coordinating dies. Spiders and bats are showcased in this stamp set with some really great sentiments. Here’s a look:Hallows Night Magic Bundle, Stampin Up! 155188The entire Magic in This Night Suite is filled with great products to make Halloween festive and fun this year. If you’d like to look through all the coordinating products in this suite, click on the image below: Magic in this Night Suite, Stampin Up!
  • Spiders, Spiders, Spiders. Again, I’m not a huge fan of spiders (except for their contributions to bug-eating). I couldn’t resist, though, to fill the bottom panel of this card with these treacherous insects. Hallows Night Magic, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Halloween cardI cropped a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock at 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ and cut a slant down the middle. I stamped spiders on the bottom panel, the sentiment on the top panel and then popped up both panels with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Favorite Halloween Colors. My card today features two colors – Basic Black and Smoky Slate. That’s it! I tried to add shine or pearls or ribbon, but I kept coming back to this simple look. I didn’t want to short-change you on inspiration today, so I thought I would share three of my favorite color combinations for Halloween: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Cajun Craze, Pretty Peacock, Blackberry Bliss

I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Love, love this card!! but I know a dear friend who is not going to be too thrilled to see it, LOL!!
I love spiders, I think they are remarkable and beneficial, I don’t allow them to be inside my house, if I see one, I catch it and take it outside to the garden, she’ll have better luck out there.
This is a fabulous Halloween card!!
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. loved the stamped spiders . . . perfect placement!

  3. Great job on making your own paper for this cute card. Love the color combinations you shared. Enjoy your day!

  4. Thanks for the reminder that “simple” can have just as big of an impact as cards with more “stuff” on them! I love this one!

  5. Cool card…I could handle them a little better if you could color a little purple on them! 🙂

  6. I hate spiders, but this is a great card!

  7. Spiders in my house are NOT my friend! The Hubs is responsible for getting them back to the outside where they belong! However, I must admit, the spiders on your card fit the Halloween holiday perfectly. Also, it is always interesting to see so many different takes on a sketch. Love your chosen color combinations for Halloween.

  8. Stinkin’ Cute my friend. Keep working on that sixth sense. Just know you will master the TURN AROUND and RUN part.

  9. I think your cards have had a nice handsome flair this week. Today’s card is a clever interpretation of the sketch you followed.

  10. Great card, Brian! Very clean and elegant, makes me think Morticia Addams’ aesthetic and her famous quote: “Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.”

  11. What a fun Halloween card Brian! I love those stamped spiders! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
