Happiest of Birthdays

Even though we are all excited about the Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas projects we can make with all the amazing products from Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog, there are still birthday cards to make. That doesn’t mean we can’t incorporate some of our new holiday products, though. ♥ Here’s a simple birthday card I made with a new stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog and some new products from the August – December 2020 Mini Catalog:

Happiest of Birthdays, Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King, birthday card

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Happiest of Birthdays. If you love a big, bold sentiment as much as I do, then you are definitely going to have to check out Happiest of Birthdays, a cling mount stamp set that’s new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog. The sentiments are a great mix of beautiful, funny and modern. So many options for birthday projects for both men and women. • Sneaky, Sneaky. Even though the recipient of this birthday card will have NO IDEA I reached into my Christmas papers to make this birthday card, I only had two options with this Poppy Parade polka-dotted paper: (1) a festive birthday card or (2) a Minnie Mouse card. Am I right?! Here’s a look at the bright, fun patterns and colors in the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper:Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153491I added three Poppy Parade dots from the All the Trimmings Embellishments. These little dots are adorable and can be used throughout the year. Here’s a closer look at this fun pack of embellishments:All the Trimmings Embellishments, Stampin Up! 153540I would have added the Bumblebee stars if I hadn’t already used blue and red – that was too patriotic for a birthday card. 🙂
  • Simple Layering. It can sometimes be difficult to stamp right where you want a sentiment to be stamped. To prevent that, I stamped the sentiment (with Night of Navy on Whisper White cardstock) and then cropped it with a Stitched Rectangles Die. That gave me the opportunity to center the sentiment perfectly! Yay for dies! I framed the cropped layer with Night of Navy and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Poppy Parade base of this card is 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″). The next layer of Night of Navy is 4″ x 5-1/4″ and the Designer Series Paper layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.

  10. What is the deal Brian? Every card of yours that I have looked at today has made me think of something else. They have all been well done and really pretty like this one. But why am I thinking of Minnie Mouse? I guess my brain is just wired differently.
