Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Autumn Weather, so prepare yourself for projects that are filled with warm tones and beautiful nods to the upcoming change in weather. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Love of Leaves
I love the canopy of lush, green leaves in the trees during Spring and Summer. Because I also love the richness of Autumn colors, I’m in love when those green leaves start to change colors in the Fall. Is there truly anything more gorgeous?! We’ll have a different conversation about the same leaves as they fall from the trees (who wants to mess with all that?!), but I love them in that moment they are still attached to the trees. I reached for Love of Leaves to create a simple, fun card for today’s blog hop. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Love of Leaves Bundle. The Love of Leaves Bundle gives us several ways to showcase beautiful leaves this Fall – the dies in the Stitched Leaves Dies give us some great options for building a card that features gorgeous leaves, and the stamp set gives us some great watercolored leaves and a handful of wonderful sentiments. Love! Here’s a look at the Love of Leaves Bundle, which is certainly on your Autumn wish list, right?:The bold sentiment on my card is pulled from the Country Home photopolymer stamp set, which I’ve used a lot over the past couple of years – some of my all-time favorite sentiments. Here’s a look at the Country Home stamp set:
- Autumn Colors. If you are going to stamp some gorgeous Autumn leaves on a card, then you need to pick the right colors to show the richness of the colors. Can you tell which colors I used? Here’s a closer look at the focal panel on this card:The four Fall colors I stamped with to create this backdrop for the sentiment are Bumblebee, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede and Cajun Craze. If you love this mix of warm tones as much as I do, I hope you will save this for future reference:
- Simple Layers. I love to build a card with simple layers that really pop. I played with different sizes and colors before finding the one that worked best for me on this card. And here are the measurements for the layering I built, starting with the base and working my way up:
- Early Espresso – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″)
- Very Vanilla – 5-1/4″ x 4″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Early Espresso – 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
- Very Vanilla – 4-5/8″ x 3-3/8″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Thick Very Vanilla – Stitched Shapes (oval)
Stamp Sets: Love of Leaves Papers: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Thick Very Vanilla Inks: Bumblebee, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies (oval), Stampin’ Dimensionals

Fabulous color combination! And a stunning card.
Thank you so much, my friend! I really enjoyed working with these colors. ♥
Awesome Card! Love the simple. On your comment who would want to mess with falling leaves. I would!! as a child we used to rake them in a pile and jump n them. We would make a game of it. Back then (lol) we had to make our own games and we played outside! WE had a blast together. Adults would make hot cider and baked goods for us when we got tired and came in. Awesome A child does not get that experience today.
We didn’t have a lot of trees when I was growing up, but I spent some time in leaf piles. 🙂 I would break something if I jumped into a pile of leaves now, so I avoid the activity. 🙂 Thank you so much, Jeanne.
Love this one Brian!
Thank you so much, René. You’ll be seeing these colors before I will…envious.
A most beautiful layered leaf background for fall!
Thank you so much, Mary! ♥
These colors are great together for a fall card. I love how you stamped them for an abstract look, and your simple, bold statement is a perfect touch.
Thank you so much, Linda! I feel like I build backgrounds a lot, but these leaves just called for it. Glad you like it! ♥
Outstanding color combo. I love the random stamped look, which, knowing you, was planned to within 1/16 of an inch. Effortless beauty that is anything but effortless, at which you are a master. Love this.
Awwww…you caught me. Each of the images was strategically placed for color and shape, but I managed to achieve a random look. 🙂 Thanks, Linda! ♥
Love the background created from stamping.
Thanks, Ann! ♥
I love the colors, beautiful card! Also, I got a wonderful thank you from your Aunt! That was amazing and so special for the card I sent! It made my day, and I can tell she must be an amazing person!
Thank you so much, Melinda! It was so nice of you to send her a card – I can’t tell you how much she appreciated the cards. So wonderful that she wrote you back – she was amazed by the beautiful cards. ♥
You always create the best backgrounds! Love the leaves and colors!
Thank you so much, my friend! I love to play around and see what I can come up with. ♥
Beautiful background my friend. Of all the things I miss about living in the Midwest is the Fall season. The colors are GORGEOUS.
Thank you so much, Kadie! I have lots of trees in my yard – I love when they are plush and green, and I love when they are colorful with rich tones. Don’t love it when the leaves actually fall, but we have to take the good with the bad, right? ♥
I love the layers and the colors. Boy is this ever a beauty!
Thank you so much, Sheryl! Not a lot of flash, but I’m so in love with these leaves and loved playing with these colors. ♥
Great card Brian, it is definitely saying Autumn
Thank you so much, Robbye! I loved creating with this theme. ♥
Gorgeous card (as always) Brian!
Thanks, Candy! ♥
Fall is my favorite season because of the weather combined with all the gorgeous reds, yellows, oranges, browns, greens and how they all mix together during that season. I absolutely LOVE today’s card Brian and hope you will continue to gift us with beautiful fall colors. Stunning to say the least.
Oh, I’ve got lots of Fall projects up my sleeve! 🙂 I’m happy to share! Thank you so much, Grace! ♥
Fabulous use of this stamp set! When I first saw Love of Leaves I wondered how I would ever use it. Love what you did with it!
Thank you so much, Sheryl! I love the dies in the set and wasn’t sure about the watercolored leaves until I inked them up. ♥
Brian, that stamped background is to die for! So pretty!
Thank you so much, Robin! It was happy with how it worked for me. These watercolored leaves are gorgeous. ♥
Shut the front door!!! Fall is also my favorite time of year, and I really miss it since the only way to see it here in AZ is to drive 2 hours north. But, your card makes me yearn for Fall. It’s been SO HOT here…this old gal is ready for cooler weather and some hot cocoa. Your card is AMAZING…and you’ve shown me yet another reason to get this bundle. Beautiful! 🙂
Thank you so much, Bobbi! Every time a new leaf bundle comes out, I immediately dismiss it and say I don’t need it. Then, I get it and am always glad I did. I can’t wait for the heat we are experiencing (which is nothing like AZ) to subside. Always wonderful to hear from you!
Love how perfect these leaves layer together. Beautiful card and another great hop!
Thank you so much, Pam! I wasn’t sure how they’d layer, but I’m certainly happy with the end result. Great hop, huh?
You created your very own and beautiful DSP. The distinctive stamps create a fabulous watercolor effect.
Brian, I simply adore this card!!! So very perfect for fall. That color combination is awesome!
Thank you so much, Jennifer! I think the Very Vanilla layer is what really helped these colors to pop. So glad you like it! ♥
This card makes me want to jump into a pile of leaves!! So beautiful!!
🙂 Thanks, Joanne!
Wow that stamped fall background is gorgeous! Beautiful card!
Thank you so much, Linda! I had fun with it. ♥
Very nice! I need to learn how to plan for random. 🙂 My random is always just that…random.
I struggle with that, too, Becky! This “random” background was carefully planned and plotted. 🙂
I can’t have enough leaf stamps and dies—these are so pretty and love the stitching. Beautiful card and great fall colors!
