Most Wonderful Time of the Year

This past weekend, I accidentally made a card that features only paper and dies – no stamps and no ink. I intentionally repeated that little accident again today. While my card is full of colorful, bold images, they are all cropped out of cardstock and Designer Series Paper. How fun! Here’s my card for this week’s Global Design Project challenge:

Trimming the Town, Heartwarming Hugs, Stampin Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP 258Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Coming Home. Homes are always popular with stamp sets and dies (and are landscapes and trees), but it took me a short moment to warm up to the Coming Home Bundle. Now that I’ve inked it up and built a couple of projects with it, I now see what makes this set so special. Here’s a look at the houses, trees and Volkswagen Bug that are featured in the Coming Home Bundle:  Coming Home Bundle, Stampin Up! 155144Want another reason for why this stamp set is so special? It’s the Making a Difference stamp set from the August – December 2020 Mini Catalog. With every purchase of the Coming Home stamp set or Coming Home Bundle, $3 will be donated to charities devoted to adoption, foster care and infertility. What a wonderful way to make a difference! For today’s card, I only used the Home Together Dies to crop out these houses from the coordinating Designer Series Paper – there are so many great options with this set!
  • Two Papers. My card combines two Christmas-themed Designer Series Papers – the houses and snowy backdrop are pulled from the incredible Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153491I used the third piece for the homes – the houses on this page coordinate with the Home Together Dies (so do the homes of the first page, the trees on the third page and the wreaths on the fifth page. I even cropped the sentiment on this card from the sixth pattern shown above. Trimming the Town, Heartwarming Hugs, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe thin white stripes on the Poppy Parade house in the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper reminded me of one of the pages in the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (albeit Real Red), so I backed my scene with this paper (shown as the last pattern below). Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper:Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 153492
  • Beautiful Christmas Combination. While I backed my three houses with a snowy Misty Moonlight backdrop, it’s the trio of houses that makes me the happiest. I love the festive mix of Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Old Olive – if you like this mix as much as I do, I hope you will save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Old OliveNOTE: I didn’t realize until I was finished with my card that the house and sentiment are Poppy Parade and that the striped paper in the background are Real Red. The similar pattern really tricks me into thinking they are the same – and if it tricks my eye, then it will certainly trick someone else’s eye.

Papers: Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper, Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper, Real Red, Thick Whisper White  Accessories: Home Together Dies, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
