Sweet Easter Wishes

This year is flying by, and Easter is just around the corner. This is the first card I’ve made for Easter 2021, and it was such a sweet card to make. Not only do I love these bunnies from Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog, but I created a soft, delicate background pattern with the a stamp from Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog. Here’s my card:

Wildly Happy, Wild Roses, Stampin Up!, Brian King

I restrained my desires to add layers and additional designs to this card so that I could play along with this week’s Clean and Simple challenge at The Paper Players. Here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

pp533The Paper Players defines Clean and Simple as minimal layers, little to no embellishments and lots of white space (not patterns). My light background might bend that last rule a bit, but I hope it still qualifies.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Wildly Happy about Wild Roses. I’ve always loved the pairings of bunnies, pandas, foxes and elephants in the Wildly Happy stamp set. How adorable are they?! While the stamp set is designed to celebrate a newborn baby, the duo of bunnies is also perfect for Easter. Here’s a look at the images and sentiments in the Wildly Happy stamp set:Wildly Happy, Stampin' Up! 149408I paired my bunnies with a sentiment from the versatile A Wish for Everything stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog. I created a soft, sweet floral background with the Wild Roses Background stamp set. Here’s a look at this beauty: Wild Roses Background, Stampin Up!, 154363
  • A Beautiful Background. A customer asked me about White Craft Inks last week.  I could only respond that I only use the craft ink when I’m heat embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and that the ink isn’t designed to leave a bold, solid white finish. That got me to thinking that maybe…just maybe…I could create a project with an intentionally light backdrop. Here’s a closer look at my backdrop: Wildly Happy, Wild Roses, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s a look at the Uninked Stampin’ pad and White Craft Ink Refill:White Craft Ink, Stampin Up!, 147277Word to the wise – craft ink, by its nature, dries slowly. I gave my stamped panel almost 24 hours to completely dry. I could have quickened the drying process with my Heat Tool, but I had time, so…I just waited.
  • Color Combination. I use four colors on this card: the soon-to-retire Purple Posy, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and Basic White. Purple Posy looks really great with the cold, steely tone of Smoky Slate, but it looks even more special when peeking from behind thin layers of white ink. If you like the mix of Basic White, Purple Posy and Smoky Slate as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Basic White, Purple Posy, Smoky Slate

Stamp Sets: Wildly Happy, Wild Roses, A Wish for Everything  Papers: Smoky Slate, Purple Posy, Thick Basic White  Inks: Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Whisper White Craft Ink  Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies (oval), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Paper Players site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Brian
