Three Retiring Favorites for FabFri 210

This has been a roller coaster week. While demonstrators have been excited to flip through Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog (and it’s AMAZING), we’re also mourning the loss of many of our favorite products. The Retiring Products List has been posted – and I’m showcasing THREE of my favorite retiring products in today’s card for the FabFriday color challenge that launches today. Can you name all three?! Here’s my card:

Dandelion Wishes, Itty Bitty Greetings, Stampin Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the color challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Three Favorite Retiring Products. Did you properly identify all three of the retiring products in my card?! No worries if you didn’t – you already know I’m going to walk you through all of them, right? ♥ The moment I realized the Stitched Shapes Dies were not in the new catalog, I gasped. I’m coming to terms with the fact that these dies are going away – I am pretty sure I’ve used them more than any other set of dies – ever. If you don’t have these, you should really take another look (I won’t be selling these in my retired products sale). Here’s a look at the 12 dies in the Stitched Shapes Dies:Stitched Shapes Dies, Stampin Up! 152323The heat embossed image on my card is from the retiring Dandelion Wishes stamp set. I’ve used this set a lot – both the images and the beautiful sentiments. Here’s a look at Dandelion Wishes:Dandelion Wishes, Stampin Up! 151345The sentiment is pulled from the much-used, much-loved Itty Bitty Greetings – what a great variety of sentiments in this set: Itty Bitty Greetings, Stampin Up! 151331
  • Color Blocking. The layout of my card is a super-simple layout that embraces big blocks of colors. As soon as I saw these colors, I knew I’d be representing grass and sky. It’s not immediately obvious, but it sure goes well with the theme. I love the scale of this card layout, so I’m sharing the measurements of each layer, starting with the base and working my way up to the sentiment:
    • Smoky Slate – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″)
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Thick Basic White – 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″
    • Pear Pizzazz – 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″
    • Misty Moonlight – 3-1/2″ x 2-3/8″
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Thick Basic White – 2-3/4″ square
    • Smoky Slate – Stitched Shapes Dies (square)
    • Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Thick Basic White – Stitched Shapes Dies (oval)
  • Variety. Variety is the spice of life – I’m pretty sure I just made that up and can coin that phrase as the first person to ever say it. Go, me! Not only does my card showcase all three of the challenge colors in large blocks, but I also showcase a variety of shapes:Dandelion Wishes, Itty Bitty Greetings, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThere’s a big rectangle, a solid square and a little oval. If you are going simple, you can always go bold with a variety of shapes.

Stamp Sets: Dandelion Wishes, Itty Bitty Greetings  Papers: Smoky Slate, Misty Moonlight, Pear Pizazz, Thick Basic White  Inks: Versamark, Misty Moonlight Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the FabFriday challenge blog to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Today’s card features one of my go to stamp sets -Dandelion Wishes. I have used it for backgrounds, inside cards, on the front of cards and on envelopes for just about every occasion for which I make cards. It may retire but I’ll be using it for a long time yet! LOL

    • Thanks for your comments, Grace! I agree – it’s hard to let some things go, but I’m happy to do it so I can get all the new things. 🙂 Even if demonstrators stop using the products when they retire, all of the inspiration is still out there on the internet, and you SHOULD use it for years to come. I always appreciate hearing from you. ♥
