Spotlight on Butterfly Brilliance

Since my pre-order from Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog arrived on Friday, I’ve been so excited to play. While I’ll be sharing some new products over the coming weeks leading up to the release of the new catalog, I’ll also be showcasing products from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalog and the retiring products from the 2020 Annual Catalog. The stamp set featured on today’s card isn’t in either of those books, but you can buy it today. Oh, joy! Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Butterfly Brilliance. The Butterfly Brilliance Bundle was released in March as an Early Release from Stampin’ Up!’s upcoming 2021 Annual Catalog. I’ve been dreaming about creating a spotlight card with this set since it was released. The dies that coordinate with the Butterfly Brilliance are amazing, but today’s card showcases the beautiful butterflies in the stamp set. Here’s a look at the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle: Butterfly Brilliance Bundle, Stampin Up!, 155821The Butterfly Brilliance stamp set features ONE large stamp with six butterflies (incidentally, the outline dies in the bottom, right corner above are one die that cuts all the butterflies at once). I stamped the butterflies once on Basic White cardstock and then again on Thick Basic White. I cropped the base with the largest of the Stitched Rectangles Dies. I cropped the other with a variety of Layering Circles Dies: Butterfly Brilliance Spotlighting, Stampin Up!, Brian KingSince the images are the same, I colored the circles with Stampin’ Blends and then glued them on top of the base layer images. • Many Messages. The long, slender sentiment at the center of my card is from the Many Messages stamp set, new in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog. Similar to the butterflies above, the stamp set is ONE large stamp, and the coordinating die is ONE large die that cuts out all of the sentiments. Here’s a look at the Many Messages Bundle: Many Messages Bundle, Stampin Up!, 156272There is a great variety of sentiments in this set, and I love them all. I stamped this set several times with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Thick Basic White cardstock and cut out the sentiments with the dies. I keep them in a little bucket for a quick grab: Many Messages Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI’ll be honest, I was never successful at getting every single one of the sentiments perfectly centered in the die. Each pass, I had one or two I had to let go – and then I grabbed those the next time. The best tip for lining them up is to focus on the little heart and stars scattered throughout. AND…wouldn’t it be cool if we had a new stamp set in the upcoming catalog that also coordinated with this large die?! Hmm….
  • In Colors. Did you notice my card features all five of the 2021-2023 In Colors? The butterfly images are stamped with the oh-s0-rich Evening Evergreen and colored the butterflies with Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends. All five are represented on this card. How fun is that?! Good morning, Brian!
What a beautiful and interesting card! I reread your explanation a couple of times because I scanned it on my phone and didn’t realize the layers! Admittedly I usually skim the description first 😌 and then go back and read it in detail. Very impressive! Thank you for showcasing the new InColors!

    • Thanks, Suzie! The new In Colors are wonderful – so easy to work with. So many ways to use this “spotlight technique” – was happy to use it for these butterflies. All the best, my friend! ♥

Brian, your killing me! I am trying very hard not to buy this set, cause I have a lot of butterfly stuff. Gorgeous card.

    • The last thing on this Earth I’d want to do is kill you with beautiful things, Margo…that said, this is a great bundle. Although I didn’t use them here, the dies are what sets this bundle over the top for me. Thanks!
