Sympathy cards are the hardest cards to make. There are so many emotions tied to a card made for a friend or family who’s lost someone. Sympathy cards can be beautiful, inspiring or sweet, but they should always show support and love to the recipient. While I usually incorporate a little yellow into the sympathy cards I make (it’s such an uplifting color for someone in a time of need), but I didn’t incorporate it into today’s card. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Quiet Meadow and Inspired Thoughts. My card combines two dies from the Meadow Dies, part of the Quiet Meadow Bundle and a simple sentiment from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set, part of the Inspired Thoughts Bundle. Both Here’s a look at the Quiet Meadow Bundle:
The stamped images and sentiments in this set are great, but the dies are over-the-top wonderful. Just look at the collection of elements in these dies. I cropped one of the dies with Garden Green and then the other with Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral. I snipped the flowers from the Calypso Coral paper and added them to the Pear Pizzazz base. Here’s a look at the gorgeous Inspired Thoughts Bundle:
The canopy of trees in the dies are great, but take another look at the sentiments in the Inspired Thoughts stamp set – such a gorgeous font with a wonderful variety of great sentiments. I cropped my sentiment with a stitched frame from the Hippo & Friends Dies.
- Paper Lattice. Not only does my card feature elements from two new bundles, but it also features a panel from the Paper Lattice embellishment, a set of 10 kraft paper lattice accents. Here’s a look at the Paper Lattice embellishment:
This is not a die – it’s a pack of 10 pre-cut kraft paper embellishments. As I opened my pack, I was expecting a flimsy, hard-to-use gold foil element. That’s NOT what I got – I love the kraft paper – thick enough to easily handle and glue down but still a delicate look on the card. Here’s a closer look at the gorgeous background this lattice creates:
- Color Combination. My sympathy card features an earthy mix of rich green, soft blue and kraft. Sure – there’s a pop of calypso and a soft green, but the mix of the first three is what appeals to me the most in this card. If you love this mix of kraft, Pool Party and Garden Green as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Thank you so much, my friend! The elements on this card were so easy to use, and it came together quickly. Still sad to have to make it. So happy you like it. ♥
I totally agree that sympathy cards can be some of the hardest cards to make. Your card is PERFECT (with or without the yellow).
Thank you so much, my friend! ♥
Interesting how color combos inspire a mood–such a calming and supportive design. This is the perfect card to convey care and concern.[Thank you, too, for the tip about the lattice pieces.]

Yay! Thank you so much, Bobbi! ♥
Yes, Brian, Sympathy cards are the most difficult to make, the recipient is going through a hard time so, incorporating a bit of color will do a world of good.
Your card is so lovely, the lattice background is just perfect to showcase the delicate bouquet of sweet flowers.
Thank you for sharing.
Stay healthy and safe.
