You’re Sweet with a Trio of Christmas Cookies

When I shared a July 4 card for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop last week, I reached for the gorgeous stars in the Christmas Trimmings Dies to build a beautiful star (you can see that post here). As I was playing with these dies to build the star on the project, it occurred to me that the layered star looks a bit like expertly-iced cookies. Mmmm…cookies. I’ve now turned that idea into a card. Here’s my sweet card with a trio of iced Christmas cookies:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Tidings & Trimmings Bundle. The Tidings & Trimmings Bundle is the most prominent of the new Christmas products in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. There are some really great sentiments in the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set, and the coordinating dies are quite amazing. Here’s a look at the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle: Tidings & Trimmings Bundle, Stampin Up!, 155716As I mentioned above, I used the two big stars in the Christmas Tidings Dies to build this star for my July 4-themed project (you can click on the image to see my original post): Celebrate Sunflowers, Stampin Up!, Brian KingEven though I’m now using the star for a Christmas project, I’ve made it with my own twist. Since I’ve made cookies, I added Christmas sprinkles with the tiny dots in the Christmas Tidings Dies – here’s a closer look: Christmas Tidings Dies, Banner Year, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Banner Year. Banner Year is a multi-occasion stamp set that debuted in last year’s Holiday Catalog – and it’s back in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. The set covers Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. That’s not all, though – several of the sentiments and images are versatile to be used for other occasions throughout the year. The way this set is showcased in the new catalog, you might think it’s a brand new set – fun! I used “you’re sweet” from this stamp set on my project. Here’s a look at the Banner Year stamp set:Banner Year, Stampin Up!, 158239I stamped “you’re sweet” in Real Red ink on Thick Basic White cardstock and cropped it with the Double Oval Punch. I added two holly leaves from the Christmas Layers Dies. Since I used the berries for confetti on my cookie, I punched three circles from the Turtle Punch to build the trio of holly berries on my card. • Christmas Color Combination. The cookies looked great in Crumb Cake but also worked in Soft Suede (if you like a little more molasses in your Christmas cookies). If you like this mix of Crumb Cake, Just Jade and Real Red as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Crumb Cake, Just Jade, Real Red

Stamp Sets: Banner Year  Papers:  Crumb Cake, Just Jade, Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Thick Basic White  Inks: Real Red  Accessories: Christmas Trimmings Dies, Double Oval Punch, Turtle Punch, Adhesive Sheets, Stampin’ Dimensionals

While this card would make a wonderful thank you card after the holidays, the cookies could also be worked into a tag to accompany a batch of homemade goodies or a sweet gift.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  2. Cute and tasty card ! I have not had an iced cookie in ages .
Also, I love love that stamp set Banner Year . I use it a lot !

  6. Yummy goodness my friend. These star cookies are totally WINNERS!

  7. Super card. I especially love the color palette, and as a commercial baker for 40 years, I salute the intricate icing job you did! Clever, clever use of the dies. β€οΈπŸ’•Big time

    • I did not know you were a commercial baker – how incredible! It really took a steady hand to get this icing so perfect, but I did what I needed to do. πŸ™‚ Thanks, Linda!

  8. LOL! Its 7:30 am, in June, and I want Christmas cookies. And that bundle! Your card is adorable !

  9. Brian, your great idea played out beautifully!

  10. Thought I would pop in today. These cookies are so fun! I can almost feel and taste a crisp molasses cookie crumbling with each tasty bite. Then, the sweet icing hitting my tongue complete with fun holly and berry trimmings. Ah, the scent of spices are tantalizing my taste buds as well. Maybe fleck some brown speckles on the cookie as well to up the spice quotient? Love the color palette as well. Include a recipe for cookies inside as well? Whatever or however you mix up the batter whether spicy cookie batter or a sugar cookie, you have SOLD me on this bundle of richness! Before, I thought the stars, were just ok and I could do without though I liked the stockings. Stocking shapes cookies next? Turn the stocking upside down and add pretzel antlers for a reindeer cookie. Oh be still my heart, can’t wait to go see if the new mini catalog is up on line so I can drool some more. To think, it isn’t quite July for Christmas in the July theme. Thanks for a yummy post today.

No, they aren’t gingerbread or shortbread or chocolate chip but they ARE cookies and it’s your fault I’m raiding the cookie jar at 4:30 p.m. LOL
