Magic is in the Air this Fall

I’ve started a couple hundred blog posts describing how much I love Fall. The changing temperatures, the colorful leaves and the crisp air make me very happy. I found a Christmas sentiment that I think works well with this time of year, so I plopped it on a Fall-themed card. I hope you like it as much as I do! Here’s my card:

Pattern Party Designer Series Paper, Christmas to Remember, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Fall cardWhen I first picked up the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper with my Stampin’ Rewards (on the first order we could earn it), I knew it would be a go-to favorite of mine. I singled out the black-and-white panel of leaves and said, “When Fall comes around, I’ll definitely be using this paper!” I didn’t. Flash forward to last week when I was studying a card by my friend, Kadie Labadie, on her blog and questioning the background paper on her card. Was it new?! Aha! She brilliantly colored the leaves on her black-and-white (you can see Kadie’s card here) – and that reminded me that I should do the same.

The Pattern Party Designer Series paper is a Host offering (available for $18 of Stampin’ Rewards for orders over $150). The 12″ x 12″ pack of papers includes 48 pages (4 each of 12 double-sided pages). One side of each page is a black-and-white pattern, and the other side of each page is a colorful pattern. If you need an excuse to place a $150 order or to combine orders with a friend to earn Host Rewards, Pattern Party is here for you. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in the Pattern Party pack of papers:

Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 155426The sentiment on my card is pulled from the Christmas to Remember stamp set, part of the Christmas to Remember Bundle. Magic is woven into all three of our major Fall holidays – spooky magic at Halloween, nature’s magic in Autumn and Santa’s magic at Christmas. When I was finished with this panel of leaves, I knew “magic” belonged in this sentiment. Here’s a look at this amazing bundle:

Christmas to Remember Bundle, Stampin Up!, 156806I added three colors to my black-and-white Designer Series Paper with Blending Brushes. The brushes allowed me to add a light touch of color and to blend the colors so they gradually change color on my card. Here’s a closer look:

Blending Brushes, Stampin Up! 153611 I’ve labeled my brushed and store them in a little bin on my craft shelf. The brushes can be rinsed in tap water, but I don’t have a sink downstairs. While this one says “Old Olive” I used it for all greens. I’ll make it upstairs with them one day to rinse them off, but this works for me right now.

Blending Brushes Storage, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe three colors the blend together so beautifully on my card are Bumblebee, Calypso Coral and Cinnamon Cider. I’ve accented the card with the central color. If you like this mix of Bumblebee, Calypso Coral and Cinnamon Cider as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

  4. Me too ! Love Fall and all the leaves and other things that go with it .
Coloring the leaves by blending looks like fun ,but I would have blending colors everywhere on the leaves and on the background and I think I need larger areas to practice my blending /coloring !

  5. A blended beauty! Love how you used a Christmas sentiment on a fall card, and layers galore!

  6. I love fall! Just when I know I can’t take the heat anymore….fall shows up! Your card is perfect!
