Retiring Soon – Words of Cheer and Knit Sweater Dies

Not only is the Retiring List for the July – December 2021 Mini Catalog posted (with 50%-off many of the retiring products), but the Clearance Rack was refreshed this week with products at bargain basement prices. There’s no reason to not go shopping this week. I’ve loved seeing the products my customers are picking up from the two big sales and can’t help but to get “one last date” with some of my favorite products that will be going away on January 3 (or when supplies run out). Here’s a Christmas card I made with two of my retiring favorites:

Words of Cheer, Knit Sweater Dies, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardWhen I set out to make this card, I wanted to play with all the little trees, deer and snowflakes in the Knit Sweater Dies. I had a fun idea for the card to just showcase these fun shapes, but … as I started playing with the zigzag pattern (looks, to me, like the pattern was cropped with pinking shears or strips of rickrack), I couldn’t stop. I was going to just add three. Then I thought I’d stop at 6. I ended up adding 13 layers on this cardfront. Such fun! Here’s a look at the Retiring Knit Sweater Dies that are retiring January 3 or when supplies run out:

Knit Sweater Dies, Stampin Up! 156453Not only can you cut the negative images with these dies (shown on the left), but you also get the leftover cutouts to play with. Score! The Knit Together stamp set that coordinates with these dies (and is also sold with the dies as a bundle) is carrying forward into Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog.

Here’s a closer look at the zigzag patterns on my card:

I added a sweet sentiment to my card with one of the stamps in the Words of Cheer stamp set. Both the Words of Cheer stamp set and coordinating Christmas Cheer Dies are retiring on January 3 (or when supplies run out), but I don’t want you to purchase this bundle. β™₯ Instead, buy them separately for a better financial deal (since the dies are 50% off during the Last Chance List sale. Here’s a look:

Words of Cheer Build-a-Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingMy sentiment was cropped with the largest circle in the Picture This Dies and framed with a Layering Circles Die. Such a simple addition to the energetic backdrop.

I love red, green and blue for Christmas. I loved working with this color combination as I think all three of these colors look great together! If you like the mix of Real Red, Pool Party and Shaded Spruce as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Love your card today, Brian. The strips of rickrack really make it pop! I’ve had problems getting on the Clearance and Retired List and I’m wondering if so many people are buying at one time that it has overloaded their system? Have you heard of others having this problem? I have tried all times of day and night from different bloggers and going in the SU site direct and nothing works. Do you have any tips? Thanks. Enjoy your day!

    • Hilda, Thank you so much for your comments – so happy you like the card. I fell in love with the rickrack as I started building the layers on my card with it. Such fun! Sorry I’m just seeing this – I’ve not heard of issues with getting to the sale items. Perhaps you can try in a different browser?

  2. I’m diggin’ the zig zag color blocking. Very “sweater-esque!”

  3. Now that is one cozy looking card my friend. LOVE your color combination.

  4. First thought in my head was “what a groovy card, man!” And very cheerful!

  5. You must have the patience of a saint, the color coordination of a fashion designer and artistry of a famous painter to put this one together Brian! Everything is so perfectly aligned and it looks like you glued each row of “rick rack” with multiple layers before putting them all together. Absolutely Jaw Dropping card today. I love it!

    • Wow! Thank you so much, Grace! I’m so happy you like the card – it was a fun one to make. One day I hope to understand why you are so kind to me… β™₯

    • I appreciate your kind comments, Jennifer! Thank you so much! I had fun with the shapes and couldn’t help but to add a little Pool Party to this classic Christmas combo. β™₯
