Feel the Feels

We all feel strong emotions every now and then – and most of us have experienced more feelings in the past two years than in our entire lives. It’s sometimes difficult to accept those feelings of loneliness or sadness or fear because we are conditioned to hold them in or pretend they don’t exist. The healthier option (which can be difficult in practice) is to give yourself a little grace and “feel the feels” until they don’t feel quite as strong. The card I’m sharing today is a sweet reminder that feelings are okay against a gorgeous, moody backdrop. Here’s my card:

Special Moments, New Horizons Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe mood of this card is set by the gorgeous New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The watercolored images feature a landscape or just ink, but every page is a beauty to behold. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in the New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:

New Horizons Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 157768I felt the beauty of this panel of blues and purples from the pack of papers – the mountains, the water, the mist. It’s so beautiful! I grabbed two sheets from my pack, cut them both to 3-1/4″ x 5″ from one side of the paper (two exact patterns) and then trimmed away equal amounts from each of the sides on one. That gave me a perfectly centered panel to layer on top of the first.

Here are the measurements of the layers on my card (starting with the base and working my way up to the sentiment):

  • Misty Moonlight – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″)
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Blackberry Bliss – 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Vellum Cardstock – 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Blackberry Bliss – 2-5/8″ x 3-7/8″
  • New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Thick Basic White – cropped with Double Oval Punch

Special Moments, New Horizons Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe sentiment on the card works so well with the moody backdrop. I stamped it with Blackberry Bliss ink on Thick Basic White cardstock and then punched it out with the Double Oval Punch. I popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, allowing it to overlap the layers a bit. The sentiment is part of an incredible Sale-a-Bration stamp set that can be selected with a $100 order (before shipping and taxes) during January and February. Here’s a look at the Special Moments stamp set:
