Paper Pumpkin Alternatives – Kisses & Hugs

Yesterday I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. It’s always such fun to see what others are making and to spend that time with my customers who participate. I love this time to connect with my customers.

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingToday I’m sharing some alternative projects with this last month’s Kisses & Hugs kit – a sweet kit with some really great elements and sayings. Here’s a look a the finished projects from the January 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit:

These are sweet cards, right?! The tri-fold cards are pretty wonderful, but the patterns on the cards (and inside the envelopes) are incredible. If you make the projects as designed, you are ready for Valentine’s Day, which is just around the corner…

Here’s a look at the stamp set that came with the other elements of this kit:

I made a handful of projects to share with my customers during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – today I’m sharing three of those projects with you (and then I’m going to give you a closer look at each). Here are three alternative projects with the Kisses & Hugs Paper Pumpkin Kit:

Love You More

While one of the as-designed projects includes this little square with a Flirty Flamingo heart in the center, I knew the hearts would look great as a trio on a single card. With the coordinating stamp set and Gray Granite ink, I stamped “love you more” on the squares. Such fun! Here’s a closer look at this card:

January 2022 Kisses & Hugs Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects, Stampin Up!, Brian KingDon’t forget the envelope! The envelopes in this kit are Flirty Flamingo on the outside and Very Vanilla with a gold foil “XOXO” pattern on the inside. The inside pattern is GORGEOUS! I couldn’t wait to cut open one of the envelopes to create the background on this card. The Flirty Flamingo panel under the three squares is the outside of the envelope, too!

I added four of the translucent sequins as an accent on my card – three are on the background panel, and one is on the heart at the center of the card.

Sending You Love

When you want to put “some scraps” to work on a beautiful card, circles are always a great choice. A trio of differently-sized circles is always a good look. I used the leftover scraps from the cut up envelope and the pattern from one of the cards (from a different project) to build this trio beautiful circles:

January 2022 Kisses & Hugs Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI showcased the Very Vanilla, Flirty Flamingo and gold foil circles on a panel of Basic Gray (a darker shade of gray from the Gray Granite in the kit). I accented the three circles with three of the translucent sequins from the kit – love these!

Lean in…I’m about to tell you a secret that you would never have guessed. Not in a million years. Ready? I love Pool Party. Pool Party is a most versatile color and works with almost any other colors. The Pool Party base and Pool Party sentiment base work beautifully with the sophisticated colors in these circles.

XOX Treat Box

With all of these hearts and lovey things in this Paper Pumpkin kit, how could I not make a treat box that would be perfect for Valentine’s Day? I reached for the Sweet Little Boxes and Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper from the Sweet Talk Collection to make this little treat box:

I wrapped my box with a band of the heart-filled Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper – I love this pattern! Here’s a look at all of the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:

Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 157616I stamped the X’s and O’s from the coordinating stamp set with Real Red ink on Blushing Bride cardstock and layered that over an arrow, a white heart and a vellum heart from the kit.

I love to pop up layers on my cards with Stampin’ Dimensionals (that’s no more a secret than my love for Pool Party). If you are going to mail card a card in a standard envelope, though, you have to limit the popped up layers (unless you are OK with a crushed card for your recipient). With 3-D projects, though, you can go crazy with Stampin’ Dimensionals – such fun!

March’s Paper Pumpkin

Here’s a quick sneak peek of March’s Paper Pumpkin Kit:

The Safari Celebration Kit includes uplifting sentiments and fun, animal images. When you complete the designed kit, you can make 9 cards (3 each of 3 designs). The kit features Bumblebee, Fresh Freesia, Pear Pizzazz, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Succulent and Soft Suede.
