Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop! This is a great time of year to build your stash of handmade birthday cards, so we are sharing birthday-themed projects with you today. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
HB to Your Favorite Sports Fan
While most of the birthday cards I make feature balloons or flowers, I traveled a different path for this project. Instead of making a celebratory card that would be perfect for ANY recipient, I’ve created a birthday card for a favorite sports fan. I combined two amazing bundles (one from the 2021 Annual Catalog and one from the January – June 2022 Mini Catalog) to create this festive birthday card:
The center of this card is a Night of Navy baseball cap stamped and cropped with the Hats Off Bundle (Hats Off set and coordinating Hat Builder Dies) from the 2021 Annual Catalog. The dies give this hat an incredible stitching that makes it a stand out on any project. Here’s closer look:
Here’s a look at the Hats Off Bundle:
The Bumblebee stars and the stitched badge on my hat are cropped from the Hat Builder Dies, and the sentiment (stamped in Real Red) is pulled from the Nuts & Bolts stamp set.
In case you don’t understand what “HB2U” stands for (this is a judgement-free zone), it’s “Happy Birthday to You” in text-speak. Here’s a look at this adorable set:
The card elements behind the had are pulled from the Hey Sports Fan Suite in the January – June 2022 Min Catalog. Here’s a breakdown:
- I cropped the large tickets from Real Red and Crumb Cake cardstock with the Sports Event Dies.
- I cut a Crumb Cake piece to fit on my Crumb Cake ticket and stamped a few lines from the Your Biggest Fan stamp set to give it a little texture.
- The baseball-stitched background panel is pulled from the Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper. The page adds a little texture to the card and serves as a great reference to the baseball hat.
You can see all of the elements in the Hey Sports Fan Suite by clicking on the image below:

What a fun birthday card, Brian! You combined all the different products perfectly so it seems like they’re all from the same set. Brilliant!
Thanks so much, Candy! I knew the hat would fit perfectly with the new bundle. Glad you agree that they work together seamlessly.
Always a master of combining even the tiniest details from many sources to create a striking card. Once again, a home run!
Awww…thanks, Linda! So glad you like it. ♥
I love this! Love the layers! And I would almost buy that stamp set just for the HB2U!
🙂 Thanks, Jackie! You know I can’t make much without lots of layers – just keep adding them until it all comes together. 🙂
A great BDay card Brian. My grandson would love it.
Thanks so much, Lynn! ♥
Sporty and cool. Love the HB2U on the cap!
Thanks, Mary! It fit perfectly, which is what forced my decision to go with this cap. Glad you like it.
What a great card to CELEBRATE.
Thanks so much, Kadie! ♥
Love your card, Brian! The hat on top of the tickets I looks awesome.
It was a one-of-a-kind idea – except that you did the same on yours. 🙂 Thanks, Marilyn. ♥
Love your card!
Thanks, Wendie! ♥
What a great birthday card for the baseball fan. I love the ticket dies under the cap. Enjoy your day!
Thanks, Hilda! These were fun elements to play with. Glad you like it.
I may have to rethink this set. I let the samples tell me I didn’t need it but you are right, you can just use the hat for anything. I suddenly have so many ideas!
Yay! I was not thrilled about the hat at first, but I love all the little elements that decorate the cap. I’ve come to love the hat and use it often. 🙂
This is such a unique and creative birthday card! You have such a keen eye of merging stamps together, as always you “hit this one out of the park!” haha! It’s perfect.
I’m sure that’s a sports reference (since it’s in quotes), but I’m not 100% certain. Ha! 🙂 Thanks, Debbie! ♥
You are just so brilliant to think it could possibly be a sports reference of my comment, it in fact is! It’s an allusion to a baseball that is hit hard enough to land outside the stadium, you are spot on and also to mean to do something extraordinarily well as you did with your beautiful card design, and that baseball dsp also is perfect! Said this almost all my life when appropriate and necessary, and I’m drooling over you card, it is, well….perfect. Xo
This is a great card for a baseball fan or someone like my grandson who just loves baseball caps. I totally forgot I have this set. Now I have a great idea on how I’m going to use it! Thanks Brian!
Yay! Go use it! I’m so happy to have inspired you. ♥
Love that you took a different path. Great card, love the unique cap greeting!
Thanks so much, my friend! ♥
That is a really cool card, Brian. I’ve studied it and looked at all the dies you used. Has my brain a processing. Love the style!
Perfect combo of colors and DSP! Really fun card!
Love this – such a fun sporty card!
What a great card….hum..maybe I do need this set!!!
