Welcome to InKing Royalty’s March Blog Hop! As we prepare for Spring, flowers are always on our minds. We are sharing flower-themed projects with you today and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
A Beautiful Day
Rather than showcase a bouquet of colorful flowers, I created today’s card with a beautiful image of flowers against four soft panels of cardstock – I let the colors of cardstock do the work for me. Here’s a look at my simple, floral card:
The flowers and sentiment on my card are from the Blessings of Home stamp set, new in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2022 Mini Catalog. Here’s a look at the Blessings of Home Bundle:
The stamp in Blessings of Home reads “What a beautiful day for love.” While that’s a perfectly lovely sentiment, I only wanted the first four words of the sentiment for my card. I covered “for love” with tape, inked up the sentiment, removed the tape and then stamped down to isolate the words I wanted for my card. I cropped the sentiment with my Tasteful Labels Dies (this is one of my favorite and most-used dies for sentiments):
I tried a variety of cardstock widths before landing on the combination that works for me – I tried 1″ strips and 3/4″ strips, but it was the combination of four 7/8″ strips that finally made me happy. Each of the colorful strips of cardstock on my card measures 7/8″ x 4-7/8″. I taped the pieces together on the back of each strip, placed the full piece in my Stamparatus and the stamped the beautiful bouquet of flowers from the Blessings of Home stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Here’s a closer look at the image on the four panels:
I chose the softest yellow, softest green, softest pink and softest blue in Stampin’ Up!’s current color collection to build the backdrop for this card. While I would normally mix colors from different families, I really wanted to represent the Subtles color family here. The black base and bold sentiment modernized this mix of colors a bit, making them less overly-sweet. If you like this mix of So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam, Petal Pink and Pool Party as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this:

Hey Brian, I love the panels. I’m not much for the Subtles usually, but I must say, (as you said), using the Black made the colors stand out more. Love it!
Yup, the colors are yummy and serene. Yup, the memento outline is perfect to reinforce the soft palette, But you wowed me with the double matting under your focal point. Layers, my friend. I always swoon for those LAYERS!
